It's mainly due to the maturity of your Endocrine system in general. It's less stable and easier to upset at a lower age.

the reason they put it on there is because thats the legal requirement i'm sure. it should be 21.

If they weren't such a bunch of tight asses, they ought to ban them all together. Tax is their main concern though.

I don't blame the government for being reluctant on banning smoking or raising the age on buying them, it brings a hell of a lot of revenue into the country.

But, as a non smoker i wish everywhere wasn't so smokey

Nick, if people didnt smoke they would find other ways to spend thier money mate, so we would still get the benefit! And i reckon the health of the country far outweighs the money fags bring in.

That said, I dont blame older people for smoking as the amount of info around when they started was small to say the least. People were actually led to believe that smoking was good for them!!

But with the amount of knowledge and public awareness around nowadays you would have to be a braindead moron to pick up the habit now. And to make it worse my brother (23) is one of them!!!

I think the economy would suffer hugely if smoking was banned. Yep people would still spend the money but attempting to justify such a high tax on booze and cigs is a hell of a lot easier as sits a lot nicer with everyone than attempting to justify a rise in income tax.

You got a point. Plus, people should be able to make up thier own minds i guess. Just having it banned in public places would suit me!
