Default architekts log

thought i might as well start 1!
started training end of november, did about 3 weeks and then took a month off for christmas/new year! anyhow, i'm back in the gym again now.
was doing what was basically Gary's routine, but now decided to do a 3 day split of:
monday: chest, shoulders, tri's
weds: legs, abs
fri: back, bi's

currently lifting:
bench press = 65kg
deadlifts = 110kg
squats = 140kg

weight = 12st/79kg
bf = approx. 15%

will try and get some pics up soon.

Smile Re: architekts log

did legs and abs today.
quite happy with myself as i did 150kg squats today. reckon i could have gone a bit heavier aswell!

squats:
20kg/20 reps - warm up (bar only)
60kg/15 reps - warm up
90kg/12 reps
120kg/10 reps
150kg/10 reps

other exercises:
leg curls
calf raises
leg extensions

then basic abs training.

back and biceps today...
mixed feelings today! did 120kg deadlifts so quite happy at that...disappointed though coz my grip, or lack of it! was causing a problem.
urgently need to get some straps me thinks!

deadlifts:
60kg/20 reps (warm up)
60kg/15 reps (warm up)
100kg/10 reps
120kg/8 reps
120kg/ 6 reps

annoyed with myself with the last two sets coz i reckon i could have done more. was essentially doing rest pause lifts, which i suppose are better for you. just didn't quite feel comfortable.... STUPID GRIP!!

other exercises:
lat pulldown
bent over rows
one arm rows

then on to biceps:
curls, superset with hammers.
concentration curls

think i did ok-ish on back, today.
my mate decided he wants to do a 5x5 routine, so i thought i'd hop on it with him today to see what it was like. didn't go heavy straight away (was still a bit weary i suppose, from nearly killing myself on squats the other day...and i mean literally!!)

anyhow...
deadlifts:
40kg/20 reps (warm up)
60kg/15 reps (warm up)
110kg/5 reps
110kg/5 reps
110kg/5 reps
110kg/5 reps
140kg/5 reps

found 110kg quite easy, but left it like that coz thats what my mate was maxing out on. quite liked the 5x5, but think i'll do it with 140kg thoughtout next time. only 10kg off my target! might have to up it!

started a new routine today...well, its basically the same as what i'm already doing, except i've opted to do 5x5 on the basic movements (bench press, deadlifts, squats)

**also, duno what it is exactly, my training partners noticed it, and pointed it out a dew times, is that i seem to get stronger towards the end of my sets!?
i.e. will start a set struggling to do 6-8, and then next set, bang out 10 like its nothing.
duno what it is...
i'm not saying its a bad thing...it's just i'm finding it a little hard to workout the level i'm at..

isn't the idea of 5x5 to do the max amount of weight for 5 reps 5 times? if you could do 140 for 5 at the fifth set, you should have started at about 180...

i understand where you're coming from. never done that sort of thing before, so just kept the same weight as my mate (who's max is 110kg). just put it up on the last set to see if a could do it. which i could.
plus, was taking it a bit slow as i nearly killed myself on squats the day before (leg gave way for some reason and it nearly squashed me - HA! )

but yeah, will be upping it to a more sufficient weight next time.

well, training hasn't been going too well over the past few weeks.
been working nights, and missing meals etc. (not good!)

anyways, still lifting roughly the same weight, but haven't progressed any, i think.

training has been a bit pants of late.
however last session wasn't too bad.
140kg squats, which i found relatively easy. gona stick with this weight for a couple more weeks though, just to make sure my form is right.
