Default Question for Chris on breathing.

i was looking at your pictures and remember you talking about your breathing not being right.IE you didn't take your breath before taking the bar.

So my question is when benchpressing, squatting and deadlifting for my maximum lift. How should i approach each of these exercises to utilize my potentional 1 rep max with breathing.

Thx in advance.

Yes I remember I said that bro... For the bench press I get my spotter to count to three, when the spotter get's to three as the bar is at the starting pointof the lift I take a deep breath and fill my lung's full of air and dont breath out until Im pushing the weight back out.

For deadlift's I dont hold my breath in this way, I have taken a deep breath in the past on a heavy deadlift in the gym and past out (lol).

For squat's and deadlift's I take a nice breath in before lifting the weight off the rack or from the floor and concentrate more on the lift itself than my breathing. Try not to hold your breath, more or less I breath in as I descend and breath out on the ascent.

hope that helps mate.

yeah ive pretty much got my benchpress nailed in this manner. Never really applied much thought to my breathing with regards to deadlift/squat, i have noticed i can in some parts of my lifting i hold my breath or not time it with the actual movement of my squat. But thinking about it (lol) i dont actually recall how my breathing is with my deadlift :P ill have to concentrate tonight
Thanks for your reply Chris that does indeed help.
