Default natural strength

Firstly newbie to the boards so hello to everybody - read through many posts today, some strong people on these boards! glad to be here

I got a main question an a couple of other ones

How much is it possible to lift (belt only) without steroids in:

standing overhead
squat
deadlift
hammer curl

roughly how long would it take to get to this level of strength? would someones hammer curl usually be more or less than a bicep curl?

cheers muchly

there is no real telling one individuals natural potential in terms of max lifting...everyone is different...and for some hammers are stronger than regualar curls, others vice-versa...that depends on a lot of things, including the specific makeup of an individuals arms, etc...but no matter, either way, dont ever let your belief in potential from achieving more than you believe you can!

As Jay says, theres no real limit - theres an argument to say that without steroids you could get just as strong as with them, just might take longer !

I'm not quite sure why hammer curl is a big concern for you its not really deemed one of hte important lifts, normally bench dead squat and shoulder press.

''would someones hammer curl usually be more or less than a bicep curl? '' - i'm tempted to be slightly rude and say who cares? but rather than say that, i'd say its more likely for a bicep curl to be bigger than a hammer curl

welcome to the site

What you could do Wild_Man, is do rearch on people in your gym ask them about their weight make sure they natural and see how much they can do.

Then you can get a rough idea on what is the max possible as being natural.

For example one guy I train with who is natural weighs 100kg, can deadlift about 340kg.

Hammer is a great exercise though hits the long head of the bicep which can get overlooked

thanx for the welcome

well, i can hammer curl near to twice as much as i can bicep curl, so i was just wondering if that was normal or not, an whats possible with the lift

i have been checking out everybody else around me for months, asking just that, there weight, if they use, an there lifts - most of them dont max out/dont deadlift or squat, an also seem to swing around a lot with cable exercises

would you think its possible to get to 600lbs in deadlift, 600lbs in squat, 200lbs in overhead, and 200lbs in hammer curl, in 3 an a half years time, when there between 1/2 n 3/4 way to those lifts now?

your kinda asking the impossible here...

i'm really not sure what u mean by hammer curl in this case - to me, hammer curl is like a standing dumbell bicep curl, but held to the side. 600lb deadlift and squat is massive, its what many people will aspire to but never get to over their entire lifetimes. Sure there are many that do do it, but its serious weight, personally i think roid free for 3 1/2 years with a perfect training and diet schedule, it would be a push to get those lifts, although if for example you can already lift 450lbs deadlift and squat, potentially you could do that.

Powerlifters after all do get these lifts. But they eat between 6 - 12000 calories a day and generally are huge guys over 6' and carry a lot of fat

IF your half and three quaters from lifting those weights now than Id say yes, in three and a half years you can, anyway why the intrest in what you can lift in three and a half years are you a power lifter? What you can lift natruly and what other people can lift will veary because everyone is unique.
