| Making Progress Join Date: Mar 2004 Location: manchester Posts: 348 Rep Power: ![]() | its not about flexibility imo, its about form. i assume you can do a deadlift with a flat back with a very light weight? If so, then slowly increase the weight concentrating on keeping the technique the same. |

| Under Construction Join Date: Jun 2005 Posts: 7 Rep Power: ![]() | well, its similar to a zercher squat and has similar benefits, id like to do it as maybe an assistance excercise to squat/dl and just to have another nice compound movement. of course, i dont currently have the flexibility to get my elbows under the bar without having my back badly rounded, the furthest down i can go without rounding my back is fists to the floor. i wondered why i hear alot less about zercher dls than the squats, but after posting here in another forum i belong to i learned that pretty much everyone (me included) cant do these with proper form so the risks are higher than the benefits. obviously if i could do these id also have the benefit of increased ROM (unless i did them in a rack pull fashion which is how some people do them). anyway, i figured this flexibility is possible (i know someone on another forum who claims that they can actually do squats butt to FLOOR and get back up) so if that level of flexibility is possible then i assume that this is possible and just wondered if anyone who trains for strongman comps in this forum would know how (since its primarily strongmen who do these, not plers,bbers,or olylifters) |

Cant imagine it being easy tho. I train with a guy who can touch the floor with his ass in the squat position. Hes actually had lifts failed in comps because his ass touched the floor in the squat snatch position. |
