olympic lifting requires a coach mate. Its all in the technique, its not something u can learn from a book.

the elite lifters lift some awsome weights. weights i can olny dream of. Your spot on in your analogy of them being like bombs ready to explode. Its an explosive movement you concentrate on achieving. I can see how it would benefit you in wrestling, deff worth giving ago mate. do u compete in wrestling?

sure no probs mate.

Not sure whereabouts you are but heres a couple of gyms i use.

West wythenshaw college, moor rd. wythenshaw. Coach is les green. A top top man and is your best bet for begining.

forum weightlifting club, not sure bout the address but could direct you. its in wythenshaw park. only 5 mins from wythenshaw college.

Moss side weightlifting, (lesuire centre) not been here for a while so not sure about coaching or facilities but last time i went they had a few lifters. Dodgy area so lock your car, if your car wheels come off take em with u aswell.

well, if you just do power cleans instead of full cleans it doesnt require that much instruction but its not the same thing. i dont have anyone to coach me so i just do PC's, but as far as strength gains from oly lifting i have a cool story about that.

on a different forum i belong to i posted a thread about lifting people in powerlifts/oly lifts/etc, well a guy posted a very cool story. he got drunk and was fighting one of his friends (not like a serious fight, they werent really trying to hurt eachother) and he knocked his friend down, grabbed him by the upper arm and knee, then, in a motion very similar to a power snatch he threw him so hard into the ceiling (not the side that hit the floor, but the side the impacted the ceiling) that the side of his body that hit turned red. of course, the guy who did this could snatch like 280 lbs which is along way off for the new lifter (hell, i cant even power clean 200 lbs yet and ive been lifting 6 months, of course thats not really my focus either)

@ original poster, if you want to increase the power lifts, you need to do zercher squats and good mornings for sure, those are very popular and either one increases both your squat and dl, as far as bench, just generally working the triceps more is an accepted way to increase it.
