Are hemorrhoids common with powerlifters,bodybuilders, strongmen? Im on my way to becoming a personal trainer and i have to deal with these i dont want them to stop me performing as a weightlifter

i dunno bout common but i have heard half the population have them.
ive got the lil bastads, only time its really apparent is if i go on a stationary bike and use too high a gear. lots of things you can do to tame tho lol ______________________ einsteins mind was the key to all things...to understand more than to know.

Yes they are common among weightlifters!!! I stopped competing 18 yrs ago and now that Im back in the gym the bastards are back with a vengeance though they often appeared since then also!!
The pressure on your rectum during heavy lifts causes them to appear though I think this is not entirely true. I think you must already have them through diet and/or the excessive sweating and drying after showers while training. Then the pressure of lifting irritates them. Ive suffered for years with the buggers. When i was competing internationally I sometimes felt like not going out on stage it was so bad. And trips to the toilet often had me in a terrible worried state with the amount of blood after too much pressure was appplied!! . I suggest lots of prep-H and , though it sounds disgusting, skip a shower or two to let them settle, though do use baby wipes on the area to get rid of sweat etc!! Badger what did you compete in internationally?
And cal how is life as a personal trainer with them? When i went to docs a while back she said they never really go away but most of the time you dont know they are there. Mine arnt too bad, theyve never bled it just annoys me knowing they are there to be honest. I think finding out that powerlifters, strongmen, bodybuilders, personal trainers get them commonly it helps me deal with them better. Lol. |

Dear chuck...I have found that what I am eating greatly reflects my hemmoriods...grainy bread was the worst...might I also suggest not actually taking a sh!t until it is ready to come out on it's own as the straining really takes it's wear and tear on your bung hole...hope this helps...

Hi all,
I competed for Ireland in Olympic Weightlifting in various competitions(hence my avatar, me winning the national club c/ships at the age of 15 with a modest 110kg jerk). Had to give it up when i joined the air force due to lack of time for proper training. I used to train twice a day, 6 days a week at my peak. Pity i dont have the pysique now i had then. It wouldnt have taken much tweaking to become a bodybuilder. My thighs were something like 32 inches each!!! My Lats,delts, traps, calves and forearms were also big. Just my bi's and tri's and pecs where way too small as they obviously didnt get enough work from the constant cleaning motion???
