The biggest deadlifter is Andy Bolton with 455kgs, he weighs around 160kgs plus. That was lifted with an Oke Texas power bar this year in New York at the WPO semi-finals.
at the moment there are a few good deadlifters around Dave Carter who has pulled 330kgs at 82.5kgs. Del Roy Mqueen who has pulled 365kgs at 125kgs, Del also won gold in the games in Manchester (olympic style). Cornelius Parkin, a young lad from Northern Ireland has pulled 333.5kgs at 90kgs. Pete Tregloan was the first man to pull 400kgs in Great Britain at super heavyweight. Im sure Glen Ross from Ireland has a big pull, aswel as another great lifter and friend of mine Jamie Burke who pulls around 320-330kg at 100kgs. Ive pulled 331kgs as a junior in competition at 88kgs and Ive pulled 340-350kg in training. I hope to hit those kind of numbers next year with the help of Dougie Black and Extreme Nutrition. They are the lifters off the top of my head, but there are a few others around. Do you compete buddy or are you thinking of competing?? |

Dave Carter (125kgs lifter) still lifts and runs the British powerlifting organisation. He has pulled many years ago 370kgs, today Im sure he still pulls 330-340kgs. He's a very big strong man, excellent deadlift for his age and pulls those number squite regular.
Alan Luker is a true warrior, I saw him pull 352.5kgs at 100kgs in 2002 out in Helsinki, Finland. He still holds the British open 100kgs deadlift record in the BPC. Lee Marshall is another world class lifter, he pulls around 362.5kgs. He is a 125kgs lifter, he always lifts with a cool head and picks his weights very well. |

Thanks for the information chris , i have heard many people talk of these guys
yourself included , would you agree that the deadlift is the powerlifting lift that is the true measure of strengh i know that the squat and bench require huge strengh and are very popular but is the deadlift the true daddy. There seems to be no end of bench press competitions around the world with many lifters claiming to be the number one bencher but it is not so with deadlifting, why is that ?. Good luck in your furture powerlifting competitions one day i hope to be as good as some of the men you have mentioned [but it may take a while !] |

Yes, I think the deadlift is the one true test of strength. Powerlifting has evolved over the last ten years with suits and bench shirts, the squat and bench press are the two lifts that the equipped lifter really benefit from as they can add 100 of pounds to each lift. Its not the same with the deadlift!!
I do think you get a little gain with a deadlift suit but nowhere in the league of the other lifts. I have always loved the deadlift, it is the true test of strength. Watching people deadlift big weights is just as impressive as seeing a big bench, if not more. I really think the deadlift is a mental lift, you really have to get in to it. I get very emotional before I go for a bit deadlift it helps me lift better. I have had the pleasure to see some big deadlifts, I was in the front row of the arena when Benni Magnesson pulled 440kgs in Helsinki Finland. He gets very focused when attempting a deadlift, its very inspirational to watch I had goose bumbs when he got the all time deadlift. Ive also seen Andy Bolton break the all time record a few times, Andy is a beast and realy gets a good response from the crowd when he lifts. Another great deadlifter Ive watched is Konstans Konstantin, from Latvia. He is very impressive!!! He is a very lean 125kgs lifter and is scary looking (lol) I watched him pull 390kgs as a junior in Finland 2002, then 407.5kgs in Vienna 2004. All in all the deadlift is the true test of strength. Good luck with your goals, if you want them bad enough you will get them. "When your not training hard sombody else is, when you meet that person he will beat you" |
