Well during basic training your instructed to breath out on the working motion of the sit-up, if you breathed out on the return portion of the exercise does this inturn have a negative effect to the exercise being perform. At the time Drill Sergeants scared the sh1t outta us and if we had asked the reason for this we would have been no doubt reprimanded. Kinda always followed that rule and have a nice stomach without any effort but was curiouse if this could be a reasonable excuse of what the problem might be, if that makes any sense.

Hi Mate

For years i never even trained my abs but i do now several times per week using sometimes machines or even that big bouncy ball thing lol. For abs to be peaking thro probably 8% fat im about 6% in my avatar

you need to drop your bf % it looks about 13-14% as you have noticeable fat deposits under each pec. Not being critical your bf is probably around the same as mine. Most people tend to underestimate their bf. Some peoples top abs show through at a higher bf (AliM) but a rule is around 10%.

You need to either be crazy lean (6-8%), or add a lot more muscle mass before you'll see them.

Defo breath out upon contraction other wise you may get barrell type abbs where the stumack as a barrell affect look. You really need to work your abbs to a pain threash hold that you never reached or experianced b4. Then they will grow, abbs are muscles just like all the others. Some people dont train them and still maintain good abbs. Ive been training mine for the last month and there coming on good, like YG said i do carry a higher fat count than you.

You look much leaner now well done.Keep it up.To get your abs to show you need to make them grow.Don't waste your time with aerobic ab exercises with excessive reps.Hanging leg lifts,holding a dumbbell between your feet.4 sets of 10,every other day.Try some cable twists to bash your obliques on the 'other days' aswell.

If you want to be able to see a defined six pack relaxed you need to be very lean, as they guy's say 5 or 6%.
I spent years doing crunches and up to 1-hour abs training per day, I do have very dense abs if anything all the exercise means I've a thicker mid section than I'd like, but the exercise never made them show through. The only way is diet and cardio.

I only train abs just before a show now infact I didn't bother last time doing any direct ab work. If I do do anything crunches on a roman chair with a broom handle held behind the shoulders isolates them big time.
