Default Advice please

Hi everyone, here are a few pics of myself (sorry about the poor quailty). The problem is im tall and real skinny. I'm soon to be 18 (yay) and i would just like to bulk out abit really in all all areas. I have just invested in a rowing machine and a decent set of dumbells. Will soon get a bench. Could some kind person please give me advice on what i should be doing. Thanks for your time.

Hi mate. Welcome to the board. If you stick around, you'll get lots of help inachieving your goals.

Good that you've brought some home equipment. Is there a reason why you are training at home rather than going to a gym. I'm not saying that you can't build up at home but a gym will have a bigger variety of equipment and seeing others train should act as a motivator.

The obvious thought after seeing your photos is that you need to increase your calorie intake - big time. All the training in the world will count for nowt if you're not eating the right foods in decent sized quantities. Post up what your current diet is and also have a look at some of the threads in the diet and nutrition forum about bulking.

Regarding your training, how often a week are you able to train and what sort of training have you done up to this point?

I would much rather train at home as I’m not the strongest of lads and would get a bit embarrassed when seeing others manage much better than myself. Hopefully I will begin to bulk out and then I would be much more confident training at a gym. This is my current diet on a random day.
Meal 1 – Bowl of cereal or a couple slices of toast
Meal 2 – sandwich or a pie or something like that.
Meal 3 – Curry or lasagne or Sheppard’s pie etc
Meal 4 – Toast or mackerels on toast.

I know this needs improving and would like advice on how many per day/what type of foods etc

I can train every week day and Saturday. Up to this point I have done quite a lot of rowing and using my dumbbells things like bench press, incline dumbbell press. The basic stuff really.

these people wont look down their noses at you as we all start off in the same place... we all see our own flaws just like you do and if your willing to work hard youll get the rewards.

good luck mate.. i was a skinny 9st when i first started training!

Hi mate. Agree with Nick - they don't sound like they're much use for putting on some size. Where do you live roughly (you don't need to say exactly if you dont want to)? There may be blokes on the forum who could recommend one nearer to your home.

With regards your diet - who ate all the pies!! Like I said before there are several good bulking diets on the forum. Check them out and pick one that you think would work for you. You definately need to be eating some more - up to 6 meals a day (they don't all have to be solid meals though) and I'm afraid the pies are going to have to go.....

Thanks for all your help everyone. Is it true that running, rowing and using step machines can prevent weight gain?
