Injection Site Lump

Appologies if this isn't the correct area to post - this isn't an AAS question, just wanted to pick the brains of those who have extensive knowledge of needles.

A mate was in hospital and had pain killers injected into his glute. About a week has past and a small painful lump has appeared subcutaneously at the injectionion site. Its not visible, and can only be felt when pressure is applied to the site - i.e. when sitting down, touching it etc.

My suggestion was just to pop down to see the nurse as it was probably some kind of infection at the injection site, but the waiting list is about two weeks...

Any ideas?

With AAs this can be normal and the swelling goes down over the proceeding days...

i'd very much doubt if it was an infection as i think he would know about it, i.e. very painful.

if its not red, sore, stinging, hot, i wouldnt worry... if it gets worse tell him to get an appointment with his doc straight away.. if its an infection they will then get it sorted quick.

Apparently you can't see it but you can feel its there. Told him to join the queue to see the nurse - he can always cancel it if it goes away.

Get it checked, if it is an infection and its caught early a course of oral anti biotics could sort it out but if its left your looking at him having to get the glute opened up and manually cleaned out then a course of anti biotics once he gets out of hospital, around a week after the op.

I know about this because I ended up with an abcess in my right glute 5 weeks before my first show and it seriously negatively effected my contest prep.
