Stick to low GI carbs as they have a low impact on blood sugar levels and also are slowly absorbed.

pie muncher you want low gi carbs, as J says they are more slowly absorbed, meaning they will not spike your insulin levels and make you store fat.

stick to good quality complex (low gi) carbs like oats, brown rice and wholemeal breads, but not too many and early on in the day for a good effect to lose weight.
