Mine cost $3 at ace hardware. --- Bro, I know Im new here and dont want to seem crass or come off like a ****head but this idea is not a good one. I take it you are using a whatman (or similar) PVDF type filter with a 0.45 micron pore size. The filter membrane/medium can rupture really easily from excessive pressure-ie numerous fina conversions where the sauce just trickles out. Your best bet is to spend $10 and get a : Hi-cap syringe filter, .45um PVDF 10cm2 (equal to 45-50mm) High-Capacity 10cm2 Syringe Filters These filters are superior to the whatman filters, but require pre-filtering to aid in filter life. They filter 3-4X faster than the whatmans, and are much easier on the hands. I suggest they be used with 30 or 60ml syringes, as these work perfectly; use anything smaller, and you brutes out there risk blowing the filter media. Comes in .22um and .45um They are about $10-$12 at sterilesolution.com. Just prefilter with a prefilter (animal sells them for $1.50 each) and you can get about 300cc out of one filter. I wouldnt use anything else personally. The prefiler looks like a thin syringe filter. After the powder is dissolved just run it thru. 10cc goes thru the prefilter very fast. It gets the gross particulate matter out and makes filtering easier. Even if you are using the whatman standard PVDF filters you get an easy 150+cc out of one. To get one: www.animalkits.be < Go under the products section and the best way to pay is thru blank MO to the addy he provides. |
