Default steroids - will i keep any gains

iv been training for 3 years now, im 6ft and weight 12 stone. i was v skinny before i started doin weights but now im a decent size. im really struggling to get over the 12stone mark. iv tried protein powder weight gainers and creatine all with limited results.

Im thinking of giving tribulus a go just coz its cheap and has no side effets. After much research, Im also consisdering an 8week coarse of steroids but want to know the truth about them and figuared a lot of you guys would know. Im not interested in taking tabs, just injections. So what would the best coarse be - the major side effect i weant to avoid is premature balding. I only want to do 1 eight week coarse.

Iv asked around the gym and one of the experienced ex powerlifters who used to use steroids says that there a waste of time and that all the gains you make will eventually be lost when you come off them. He says to maintain the gains you need 3 coarses per year.

Would be grateful of feedback, as iv heard so many differing opinions on them. Rich

you need to eat more man, stop looking for a quick fix because there are none in this sport, diet is the key, at your size your should be eating between 3500 and 4000 calories to gain weight

if you want a strength boost you could try cee and/or trib, that might help you a bit but weight gain will come from heavy weights and lots of clean food

no of course you don't lose all of your gains when you come off roids, you will lose a bit of water weight but that should be it, if you know what your doing and pct right you should be able to sustain at least 70-80% of your muscle gains IMO

If you arent gaining, you need to eat more.

On a usual day i'd eat the following;

Breakfast;
6 scrambled eggs on wholemeal toast, bowl of porridege oats and a yoghurt.

Lunch;
Steak with potatoes and two veg (cabbage/spinach etc.) plus gravy.

Dinner;
Tuna pasta bake with onions and sweetcorn.

Supper;
Italian or indian dish consisting of two chicken or turkey breasts, chopped tomatoes, an onion, broccolli or leek and wholemeal rice.

I also snack on peanuts and milk through the day and consume between 2 and 3 litres of water a day.

Been stuck on 12 and half stone for 6 months now!

You need 6 solid meals a day.

A good high quality protein shake between breakfast and lunch, another post workout, and another after supper would significantly add more calories and protein to your diet quickly. I struggle each day to eat as much as I can and as often as I should. Protein shakes are the only way for me to fit additional feedings into my work schedule. Real clean food is always the best choice but isn't always practical or even possible. I agree with everyone else here in that you really need to eat more. Your food choices seem in order there just isn't enough of it spread out adequetly. Looks like you're on the right path just need some additional meals-at least 2 more. Also a little patience is required as growing muscle naturally takes time and effort in the gym.

With work etc. it wouldn't be possible for me to eat any more soild meals. I tried protein shakes/weight gainers for 6 months with no results, weighing myself monthly I observed no gains in weight. I did experience good results with creatine and free-from amino acids, which helped me gain half a stone in 3 months. I'm currently experimenting with ZMA and tribulus, i've been on Gen's ZMA for about two weeks now and have noticed slight increases in muscle mass and elevated levels of energy in the gym. Once I have finished the bottle I'll let you know if there has been any movement on the scales.

What I can't understand with the steroids and prohormones; people say you keep the gains, but I see people once they haven't cycled for a while and they look deflated. I attended a seminar by Dorian Yates recently and he looks half the size, his muscular state looked easily attainable without the use of gear. In fact I know people who have trained for a similar duration without as much committment and dedication and are a similar size.

With the amount of juice some Pro's use plus all the other stuff, and the intensity of their training whilst competing; its inevitable that they lose serious size when they retire.

I used to train with a guy that only did two courses of gear and stopped. He still trained hard and was quite a size five years after stopping them.

If you build a good base first (5 years of solid training) you will keep a substantial amount of your muscle post steroids as long as you still hit the gym and dont slack off.

If you arent gaining naturally you arent eating enough. if you arent eating enough then you wont gain much on juice either.

Anyone can fit 5-6 meals a day. Here is an example:

7.30 AM Breakfast
10.30 Break @ work protein shake with oats
13.00 Big Lunch at work
16.00 Afternoon break @ work protein shake with oats
18.30 dinner
22.00 Supper

Im sure you could fit those in if you tried.
