I think weed is a total waste of time & money, but hopefully you will grow out of it. I appreciate it is hard to avoid marijuana when you are 16-24 as so many of your peers engage in it.

Back to the question at hand...you need to eat and stick to basic compound exercises in the gym. Don't waste your time and energy on pansy stuff like cardio (although maybe your lungs could use the work ). Cardio is for when you have already built a substantial base of muscle and want to display it effectively. Also, cardio is something us older guys need to worry about as it is easier to get fat after 30 and muscle endurance fades quicker than pure muscle strength. Build your base first...forget the sit-ups and dumbell arm curls. Learn proper form in the squat, deadlift, chin-up, dip, bench press and clean & jerk. Save the excessive cardio and 20 minutes of abs for the women. Put down that Marley cheiftan and train like a man.

David's advice about one gram of protein per pound of bodyweight is a great starting point, as is his suggestion to eat AT LEAST every three hours. If you do not know the protein content of foods then READ. Put down that joint and pick-up a book. Do you want muscle, might, strength, confidence, power OR do you just want to be another skinny-fat wastoid burn-out. Your choice man.

Stick around...you'll learn a lot.
Congratulations on making the decision to start eating better and exercising.

GTF

Well done David,

Best to be honest! A little weed never killed anyone! (not that I know of anyway).

It's like dieting, you have to treat yourself now and again otherwise it is very easy to fall down in your training.

Just my 2 cents...

Everything in moderation, thats my philosophy.

With all the vallies, oxycontins, GHB, GBL, and so on..........why not eh??

Definately a lot better for you than those things.
