Off and on I've been doing a variety of sports, weights, cardio since leaving school, am 28 now. More recently I've been regularly in the gym twice a week. some cardio, mostly a simple full body routine: bench press wide pec deck leg press dbell shoulder press laterial barbell lift variety of bicep/tricep curls I have never done enough leg work... but slipped a disc last year (100% recovered now) so at the moment a machine leg press is all I am doing But... changing jobs which means (a) cancelling my gym membership, not sure about options near my new office and (b) I'm thinking about some basic kit for the garage, as my hrs will be longer, so maybe best to workout at home rather than in a gym... So questions about routines later :-) but firstly I'm after advice on some basic home gym kit - on a budget, am not after machines: I'm thinking: incline/decline bench dumbbells barbell gym ball chin-up/pull up bar whats the verdict? Sorry for the long 1st post ! or if I've missed a thread with the exact same questions! Cheers Dan |

Can you do more leg / back work (such as Squats and Deadlifts)? or are you still cautious of your back...? Couple of guys on here PScarb and CrazyCal1 have had back probs in the past so may be able to help... |

I did have some discomfort when doing machine based leg extensions (and the opposite version, I forget the name)... but that was a while back. I've done some squats in the past, but never done deadlifts. I know theres a hotel gym near my new office, but experience tells me hotel gyms are usually small = gets busy easy!... so maybe home is the best option... |
