hi zoe. i'd say your best plan of action is to look at photo's of the figure girl competitors in each federation, as different feds have very different criteria regarding the figure class, and then compete in the federation that rewards the look you're aimimg to have yourself. i personally watch the figure class more closely than most being that my better half competes in it and has done for the past 8 years now. She has always competed in NABBA, as these girls have the ideal look in our opinion (muscular, detailed, yet feminine and sexy with it). But be sure YOU are in the right federation for your 'look'. Rach has done very well in NABBA as she fits their criteria well, but if she competed in several other federations, she would not fit their criteria so well and would undoubtedly be less succesful. decide how you want to look (not how you currently look) and then go with the fed that appreciates that appearance.

This is why i've always said it's more difficult for the girls to compete than the guys. We know at least what look to strive for, but the ladies have so many variables to their look, certainly in figure classes anyway, that they have to fully educate themselves on and understand in order to be a successful competitor. however, this makes figure classes more interesting than mens classes as a spectator i think.

thank you for all your advice - it is much appreciated. I have been umming and arring about entering a comp for years but have decided now is the time or will be too old to do it

I think maybe my best bet is to go to a few comps as a spectator and check out the competition
