I am a 31-year-old male and am 6 foot 1. Weigh in at just over 100Kg (15St 10Lbs) fairly broad in the shoulders and upper arms but I am ashamed to admit that I have a bit of a gut going on. I work for the immigration service removing or deporting illegal immigrants or serious foreign criminals so ultimately I have to be able to have a rough and tumble if they become violent or disruptive upon removal/deportation. However I have found it increasingly difficult to keep in shape whilst doing this job for the following reasons. -We are on call 5 days a week and are not covered by the European working directive, our only entitlement is that we have 11hours off between jobs. In essence this means that I could be tasked with a 30 hour+ job. So it is very difficult to get a regular routine in the gym. Therefore I will usually to a total body workout whenever I can to ensure all muscle groups are worked, thoughts on this would be appreciated. -The job is very static, as we will typically spend 5-8 hours in a vehicle with the detainee before boarding a flight of 3-14 hours. At the other end we usually come back after around 2-3 hours (so the above flight is repeated). Therefore work time can be anything from 10-40ish hours with very little activity (unless they refuse to get on the plane and we have to carry them on). -Diet is obviously very important when weight training but as we are all aware airline food is terrible and it is quite difficult to bring your own food on these jobs because of restrictions on fauna and flora in destination countries and liquid restrictions going through security at this end. I believe tinned food is ok, any tips? -The big plus point with the job is that occasionally we will stop over in the Destination country and stay at a hotel with a gym. However we are usually hanging out by this time so what it the crack with working out whilst fatigued? Hope I haven’t gone on too much and I would really appreciate any feedback you may have. Cheers Chalky |

Re to your training and diet i can see how it can be hard for you but to be honest i don't think you need to be a regular gym rat to get in shape, diet is essential yes, but as long as you can hit the gym 3 times a week or even 2 then this will be fine. |
