I've been training on and off for about 10 years, but have decided to get serious about it recently. I was in pretty good shape a couple of years ago, having gone from 11st to 14 1/2 st with minimal body fat increases ( about 16% from 13% ), but since then I have lost consistency due to a lack of motivation, as well as most of the lads I used to train with moving away or falling by the wayside due to having kids etc. For the last few weeks, i have changed up my training and am currently on an upper / lower body split, twice a week for each, and my diet has improved considerably. I am currently taking in about 4,500 kcal a day, and 270- 300g protein, and I have gained 6lbs in a month putting me up to 13 st 6lb to date. my goal is to reach at least 15st ( I am 6'3",and I reckon that this will be the sort of weight I need to stop looking totally gangly ) and increase my strength as much as possible, and having been reading this forum for a while I think I will definitely benefit from having fellow weightlifters to bounce ideas off, and hopefully I can help others out in return. Looking forward to chatting, Cheers Tim ______________________ "Getting Big is a battle : Your weapon is a fork " - John Berardi Last edited by Pompey Tim; 20-06-2007 at 10:27 AM. |

I'm 6ft 6" and weigh 17st 6lb and still look gangly. Its a hard slog for us ectos. You are probably on the money for your diet kcals wise - I'd be tempted to up your protein a little, but thats only cos I found its worked for me. Hit the compounds heavy, making sure you are squatting, dead lifting and benching - along with things like dips and pullups/chin ups and growth will come. Its a marathon, not a sprint to get to where you want to me. Hope you stick around. TH&S |

I'll give the protein increase a go, might add an extra shake for another 50g / day, see how that works out...
