Default first competition,first major mistake!!

hey there. im a 29 year old male living in lowestoft!! i have been training for about 4 years properly, but have been real unfortunate with injuries!! the most recent being a bicep that tore in 3 places!!!i dont recommend one coz they really hurt!!haha. attempted my first show on the 3rd of june in the first timers at great yarmouth. didnt make it through my free posing routine before the cramps got too much. to be honest i messed my last few days prep up,i didnt trust my body and worse i didnt trust the guy who was advising me, got stressed and rushed peaked 24 hours too early and just generally screwed up!! as a result i feel that the cramps were made worse by nerves and feel a seasoned competitor or maybe someone a little more confident could have worked through it. looking back now i probbaly could of too and am a little angry at myself for letting myself down and not showing myself anywhere near my best!!!big, big respect to anyone who has ever stepped onstage, no matter where they placed it takes some balls!!!!!plan on competing next year, but gonna let the bicep heel properly for a few months and then get stuck in. i have the current mr east anglia in my corner, mark bartram, so ill just make sure i listen to him this year!!!

Default Re: first competition, first major mistake!!

well done on getting up on stage bro... weve all fcuked up our prep at some point or another and i know exactly where your coming from!

many tho cant admit when they have got it wrong.. you seem to have the correct attitude... and as you say all you need to do now is listen to someone who knows what they are talking about...

i remember for my first show... one week out i asked the guy helping me what i should do the last week... his answer - i dont really know! surprisingly i looked sh*t!

i always look at contest prep as a matter of simply making the right decisions at the right times... more cardio/less cardio.. more food/less food.. more rest.. etc. etc..... if you have someone who helps you make these decisions then your sorted!
