Makes me think about the pair of swines that did for the poor Bulger lad, where the hell are they now, probably living a much cushier life than most of us! |

maybe the media does play a part but IMO only a small one - the owness (sp) for this lands squarely on the parents and the childs upbringing.. a kid learns whats acceptable and what isnt from their parents and if that doesnt happen with even the smallest of things then once they are out there its bound to escalate.. and yes, i probably did try to roundhouse kick my mate in the head lol but i definitely didnt watch nightmare on elm street and go fasten blades to my fingers! | |

I think u have a valid points and I agree that the bulk of the responsibility lies with the parent, the media should show some more responsibility but I would def not be in favour of a kind of censorship. I was discussing wiht my fam the other day how society is going to the dogs, I know every generation feels that the younger is worse than theres but still; a friend of mine was tellin us a story about when he was 18, he met a girl who was seventeen and they began a relationship, they got onto the topic of sexual partners and this 17 yr old informed him that she'd lost count after 100! I was horrified, I'm no prude but come on! It got me thinking about the TV people watch, I caught an episode of skins which is a favorite of the kids at the school I've been workin at and I thought it was pretty disgusting. The fact is the next generation are exposed to irresponsible broadcasting that glamourises sex, drugs and violence, this juxtaposed with violent music, video games etc numbs childrens perception. I'm not saying these show's, games, songs shouldnt be out there but parents should be more pro active in ensuring their kids aren't exposed to them. Teachers should def have more power to discipline the kids aswell, alot of the time I have threatened to call a kids folks if he/she is out of line but when I get a face to face with the mum, a lot of the time, she looks high as hell and isn't really listening anyway. So many kids have such bad home lives that they emerse themselves in 'gang' culture as they feel they have nothing else. The whole country needs a bloody good shake up, unfortunately I don't know the answers, but as Gazz said the government should fund youth project as opposed to pointless domes! A shake up of the education system, even some form of national service be that for everyone or just for lads that are headed a bit wayward. Oh hell, I don't know, I'm not an MP but something needs to be done to reassure us all. Halleluja!!!! |

Ill tell you living in south east london (once you been around here you dont want to come back) all this violent culture just comes from other people. One moron bullies another and the cycle continues until we have a bunch of uncontrollable idiots. Its to do with a fashion trend more so then anything and the norm that people just expect. Fortunately I workout thus looking bigger thus I dont get pestered. However, a month ago 2 scum bags came out of their tinted bmw 4x4 and was starting trouble and I just said you what mate as they mumbled something to me (they were shocked to get a response), until one of them was pretty smart and just told his mate look he's looks like he can handle himself lets roll. People gotta stick up for themselves (even if you get your ass kicked), as rudes, hoodrats, chavs (all the diff types of scum we have) know who they can and cant bully. They do it as they know they can get away with it, its a case of letting people know that they cant get away with it. Solution to this? Wish I knew! |
