When I was a kid at home I knew where the line was drawn and if I overstepped it I got a good hiding. I wasn’t beaten but just subject to good old fashioned discipline, told why not to do something, the asked not to do it, reinforced with why and if I ignored it I got what was coming. At school corporal punishment still existed as did other non pc things which taught kids about the real world. One of my colleagues has told me in his kids school red crosses are no longer used as they are a negative comment – fook me no wonder we have problems… kids also need to be taught not everything in life come without effort they need to be taught almost everything worth having takes huge effort. Kids should be taught to channel their energies positively. boys I honestly believe need positive male role models who they can respect and desire to emulate and impress, if not they find one and for a lot that will probably be the “hardest” lad in the neighbourhood which unfortunately could well mean some tooled up little prat. I do think though it is incumbent on people who are able to stand up to themselves to do so, Pavlov’s dog’s syndrome; back down to the fookers teaches them everyone backs down. I’ve had a few bollockings off of H for pushing my way through more than one gang of hoodies saying excuse me and getting sorry mate. Ok not everyone looks like me…and my sign off says something about my mind set There’s bound to be a back lash of common sense at some point, sooner the better, we need to teach our youngsters to respect themselves first, give them something to aim for stop the free hand outs for the lazy (not the genuine) positively reinforce desirable behaviour and punish harshly that which is not acceptable. I could rant about this all night!!!! ______________________ Better a Lion for a single day than a Mouse for a thousand years. |

Without being a prude (those who know me know I'm anything but!) but what civilisation finds acceptable today has diminished considerably in the last 10 years. You never saw actual dead people on tv, like in war zones or those killed in accidents, sexual scenes were only on late at night and the language used on tv and in public was nothing like it is now. There was a time when if you were a kid and you were out of order you got a clip from your parents, the police or a neighbour, the shock and shame of this taught you a lesson, at least for a while, an you were terrified your old man would find out so you were on best behaviour for a while but not now. You raise your voice to a kid an there parents are at your door, if you lifted your hands it the cops. Its a joke, discipline has been long forgotten along with manners, honour and honesty. We live in a society where people like Snoop Dogg and Beckham are heroes and the men and women sent off by our puppet government to fight a war to keep the rich happy are scorned by the chav culture that is now our streets. I hate it, I belted a guy for giving me lip outside the bank one day, he was over 6 foot tall and looked late teens, turned out he was 15. I was lucky to get away with it but the police saw he was a cnut when he kept asking for my address so him and his father and uncle could sort it out - I'd have love that! Another kid bouced a stone off my Lotus as it sat in my drive and I was in my garage, I caught him and attempted to throw him over a fence into a small river but his screams an those of his 2 pals mae me see sense, the 3 little ba5tards have not been in my street when I've been around. I'd do the same tomorrow in the same circumstances, the current culture of turning the other cheek just allows the scum to think they can get away with treating decent people as objects for them to bully and ridicule but if we all stood our ground and helped others when we saw them falling victim to these scum then the message may get thru. I think the saddest thing is that it doesnt suprise me. Whilst doing my degree at Uni i worked for a criminal law firm in that area. This involved many visits to see folk in prison. I spent many a day in Young Offenders Institutes seeing these kids and preparing their cases. I even had to go and see lads that i went to school with. The thing that was wierd was i met all kinds of criminals... murderers, armed robbers... everything. The kids i.e. 13 - 20 were by far the worst. We had a certain client who had been visited twice by female colleagues and was just an abusive and arrogant git. I got sent up their the third time and he tried the same with me. I just explained the facts of the situation to him very carefully... i.e. that if he threatened me like he had them their would be a very different outcome. From that minute on he was as nice as pie. Actually ended up having quite a laugh with him. I think half of it is about image and front. I worked in Security for four years and the people who gave the most bother were the 'wannabees'. The 'faces' were generally very pleasant and never gave any trouble. They just wanted to come out and have a few drinks with the missus. I think its only going to get worse too.... ______________________ 1st Jan 2007 6ft 4ins Tall Current Weight 19St 5Lb Target Weight 15.0 Stone Weight to lose 4st 5Lb Current: 18st lb.
