Default Whats everyone's farorite physique, past or present?

I think the bodybuilders of the 60's and 70's were definately more pleasing to the eye than than todays monsters!
They were the pioneers of the sport for sure, you cant take anything away from modern bodybuilders but it seems aesthetics have totally gone out the window. I think it all started going wrong with Dorian, possibly Lee Haney. For me Serge Nubret, Frank Zane and Arnold had the best physique's. Good aesthetics and still very muscular and vascular, but still look like they come from planet Earth!

for me, i like the look of muscle. Always have. All the guys you mentioned were superb, but i also like the super freak look. I think most people's favourite physique's are the one's you admired when you first got in to the sport. For me that's guy's like Aaron Baker and Flex Wheeler. gotta say though, Ronnie is far and away the most mind blowing physique i've ever clocked. Got nothing but respect for everybody that does this crazy stuff at all levels of the sport.

Well, when I got into this sport it was guys like Sergio Olivio, Arnold, Frank Zane etc that I first clapped eyes on, even though Im only 24. Flex Wheeler was another mean looking physique that I admired. Iv also always liked Jay Cutler, Dorian Yates, Mad Mazz ( Mike matarazzo ) to mention a few, oh and one of my favs are Gunter, I suppose its coz we're both the same height and even though he has a great build, hes had to work his arse off because of his height. At the mo, I got a ton of respect for the current freakshow , Ronnie!

Eddie Robinson, Mike Francois, Achim Albrecht, Francis Benfatto, Arnold, Paul George (I know he's current but he's got to be seen to be believed), all these guys are inspirational to me for different reasons.

Eddie held some world records for powerlifting and was a golden gloves boxing champ as well as being a top bodybuilder.

Mike was training to be a priest when he met his wife and left the priesthood, his density and powerfull physique was awesome in my opinion.

Achim was HUGE, tall and quality with the best 8-pack of abs ever.

Francis (first time around) was symmetry personified.

Arnold set the tone for ever and put bodybuilding on the map, he also proves we're not meatheads.

Paul started out crap and has worked his bollox off for 20 years and got 8th in his debut pro show, his aesthetics and muscularity allow him to wipe the floor with guys competing 7 stone heavier than him, he is an inspiration to us all and he's no gear monster. He's healthy and truly puts most of us to shame by really leading a bodybuilding life.

Other bodybuilders who I'm fortunate enought to list as friends who I think are awesome bodybuilders and great blokes are Shaun "Dinosaur" Davis, Ian Harrison, JD Dawodu and Gary Lister. All these guys are incredible bodybuilders with no superstar complex.

i think if arnold was competing today-
with todays technology and science-
he`d still be the man.

arnold is more amazing as an individual than he ever was as a bodybuilder... everything he has put his mind to he has achieved!

i think alot of the technology was around back in those days... its the knowledge about how to apply the technology which has improved!
