well after reading the thread about MR SYNTHOL i thought why not have a moan at channel five about the bashing that the bodybuilding community usualy get from totaly biased documentarys and programs, well i kept it mostly civil so i didnt get acused of roid rage heres there reply!.

We were sorry to read that you felt the programme was 'an absolute
farce' and sensationalised. The programme was specifically intended to
give the story of Gregg Valentino's life story and experiences and his
account of this. It was not meant to be a documentary about
bodybuilding and the use of steroids and/or synthol.

Nonetheless, this does not in any way diminish the nature of your
complaint. We have logged your comments in the Viewer Enquiries Report,
which is circulated throughout the company. Also, your complaint will be
noted in the quarterly report to our regulator. Commercial television is
regulated in the UK by Ofcom (the Office of Communications).

We have
also logged your interest in seeing a documentary on steroid use as
opposed to abuse on Five.

come on get moaning at them, like was mentioned the more who complain the more chance they have of making a fair programme, they are only interested in viewers numbers so they will go with the majority.

sorry if im missing the point here,but i really cant see why you are all so hung up on the bad publicity steroid users get...there is always going to be prejudices in all walks of life,if you think that any time soon people are going to stand up and applaud someone for taking a drug that is not necessary,you must be living on another planet.dont get me wrong im not anti steroid as i can see their importance in sport and in life,but to be a bodybuilder who uses steroids expecting the public and or media to happily go along with it is just unrealistic.why dont yous all just crack on with what your doing and take no notice of what others think? theres plenty of things in life that people do that the majority of others wouldnt agree with,but they dont all try to change peoples attitudes about it they just get on with it.if you know you are doing no wrong then just get on with it instead of trying to change other peoples opinions,especially about something that realistically you know you could never change there opinion anyway !
no offence to anyone i just cant see why all the fuss or why you all get so offended

My gripe was about the bad publicity bodybuilders get - the steroid issue is, to an extent, irrelevant. And Channel Five's reply to Caymen was disengenuous to say it wasn't about bodybuilding or steroids but about the life of Greg Valentino

Leglock - i understand what you are saying but the programme made it out that his arms exploded and where in that state from using Steroids this is not true his arms are like this because he abused Synthol a substance that was never mentioned in the programme.

although we take a drug that is not necessary thousands of people do this everyday with tobacco and alcohol as these are not necessary in fact both these substance cause more damage to your health than Steroids will ever do but because these are legal it is not judged to be bad......go figure..

for me its the fact that all steroid users are usually made out to be drug ABUSERS who will die through there use of steroids!!

that really is NOT the case... yes there are a certain percentage who unfortuantely this can be true for.. but the majority do not abuse their bodies!

if they made us out to be simple law breakers then fine... this programme made us out to be stupid self obsessed drug abusing idiots!!

allot of my old school buddies decided that heroin was the way to go! and i have had to go to many funerals because of this drug!, but this is a class A drug and steroids are a class C drug but moraly the average person cannot see any difference between steroids and heroin type drugs because of the constant lies and bush!t that these programs spew out, i dont want people to asociate steroids on the same level as drugs like heroin that have absolutley no use or benifit in our society.

A guy who will remain nameless used to be a full blow heroin addict!, and with my help and nearly at the cost my relationship he got free of that sh1t, and he has been clean for over 5 years now and absolutley dispises herion and the people that use it, i am so proud of him as very few get off the drug and stay off, he now has a job and his own family and home.

Any way this guy said to me that he wanted to go weight training with me and he was dead serious, so we went a bought all his supps protein etc etc, and he eventualy plucked up the courage to ask me about steroids, so i had a extremly long converstion about the benifits and a realistic decription of the negatives, he couldnt believe it he thought i was having him on, he then said if he were to take steroids that the only thing stopping him is that he would feel dirty by injecting them!, this came from an ex heroin addict who saw no wrong in injecting heroin and living of stealing and robbing old people to feed his habbit!.

the stigma attactched to steroid use outside in the everyday community is a "dirty" or "dangerous" one and in my opinion it definatley is not dirty and with education it isnt dangerous!.

women take the pill every day to create hormone imbalances within there bodys to prevent pregnancy, and now there is an injection to do the same job but this isnt frowned upon and this has very real risks from Blood pressure increases, blood clotting, cancer risks also, but again no programs are made to bang on about the risks of these.

My at the time girlfriend said she didnt agree with me taking steroids, i asked why and she spewed all the crap out you here on the tv, she said i dont see the need for you to inject things to make yourself bigger, but most women dont because they are not programed mentaly the same as men. So i told her if you could get an injection that would force you to lose 2 stone in weight would you take it, she said yes ofcourse what woman wouldnt, so i said why is it so different for me to put size on by using an injection, she replied well its different for women and steroids are dirty. 12 years later she is still with me and she hasnt any problems at all with them now she knows the truth.

Theres the stigma thing again from constant bullsh1t and poisoning of the mind these programs bring thats why i am so oposed to them!.
