I went in for a simple op on my right hand to relieve carpal tunnell syndrome. My right hand was done in february and went fine, i have an inch long scar and was in hosp 2.5 days. This one went wrong big time! The op was done on the saturday morning by a surgeon who I met for the first time in the operating theatre, he did the op said all was well and wished me the best. As the day went on I sat in the ward (they were keeping me in for observation) and I felt my hand swell as the day went on, I knew something wasn't right as I'd never had that with my ledt hand. They removed my bandages to see a blood clot in my hand and internal bleeding causing the swelling, so they did me again on the saturday night, the highlight of last weekend was my saturday night general anaesthetic, now there's a feeling we could do with in a bottle! All morning on the sunday felt great but in the afternoon, the swelling started again, by night I was sitting on a chair rocking back and forth like someone in a mad house with my face contorted in agony. The nurses told me I had all the pain relief I could get. If I could have cried I would, the pain was intolerable. I almost begged for morphine. They at this point accepted something was wrong and got a jnr doctor to come for a look, they removed the bandages and my hand was more swollen than ever so they took out the stitches to ease my pain. The junior doc had obviously been sleeping and she said this would be fine and she would get the surgeon to check it in the morning, she agreed to shoot me up with morphine so I could sleep. I fell asleep and woke thinking "my arm feels cold, I must be sweating" so I turned on my bedside light to see the sling my arm was being held up at the side of the bed in was soaked in blood, so was my bed and me. What did they do? Kept changing the dressing. In the morning they rushed me to surgery again, concerned now because I was cold and weak, possibly lack of sleep but also possibly loss of blood. They did the op again and this time changed their approach to the way my blood clotting was handled, they followed what I'd suggested on the saturday night, everything seems ok now. My complaint is going to be that they know fine well I need warfarin to thin my blood after my heart surgery but they did not check what they should have been doing to allow my blood to become thick enough to let my would start to heal and were wrongly handling my anti-coagulation medication. I suggested to them what should be done, I know my body and how it has reacted to things in the last few years since my heart op I also have researched my medications too so why would they not listen to what I had to say? Is it the bald head and goatee, the tattoos or 18.5 inch arms that makes my opinion null and void? I'm going to complain, not because I'll get anything or it will change what happened to me but may highlight failures in the hospitals procedures. www.extremenutrition.co.uk ______________________ www.extremenutrition.co.uk - 25% OFF FOR ALL MC MEMBERS, discount code MCD25. www.betterbodies.uk.com Seriously cheap sports nutrition! I was in immense pain after my third knee operation, luckily they give morphine out like sweeties in private op care (along with a hefty bill), so i was laughing.... (literally...) The surgeon tells me the op went fine and the pins and needles will disappear as the swelling goes down. The pins and needles is getting worse as the swelling goes down, the condition was totally rectified in my right hand the minute it was done. I wish I could get private care but BUPA and co aren't interested in someone with a screwed heart, i.e. ME! I've checked it out and the premium is astronomical and they put in a load of exclusions so its not worthwhile. ______________________ www.extremenutrition.co.uk - 25% OFF FOR ALL MC MEMBERS, discount code MCD25. www.betterbodies.uk.com Seriously cheap sports nutrition! You must be sick Extreme after having lost so much time training this year already, never mind mate, remember how fast you got it back after a year and a half out with your heart saga? You never give in (or do as your told) and thats what seperates you from those who say they want to do something but never do. Chin up. ______________________ Welcome to Musclechat.co.uk "I was born perfect, and just like the great white shark, have never had to evolve!" www.uMuscle.com - Bodybuilding & Sports Video Sharing Community! |

My dog was sick and the vet left his dinner party to see him at 1am - but in hospital they tell you you have to wait til so-and-so is back on shift or whatever. Its all very wrong! ![]() ______________________ Zara-Leoni Ford My Business: www. cutiecool .co.uk Account Manager: www. physiquebodyshop .com Photos on: www. gasparinutrition .co.za www. rippedglutes .net |
