What is the problem with the computer does any one know what it is and how i can fix it thanks. also this is some infor bout the computer: Board: TriGem Computer, Inc. Imperial 1.10 BIOS: Phoenix 6.00 06/17/2003 |

Put just the 512 mb RAM in. download and extract this: http://www.memtest86.com/memtest86-3.2.iso.zip , and burn it as an image to a disk. Reboot your PC and run memtest86 - it will look weird but run the tests on there, leave it for about 24 hours. If there are no errors then its not dud ram... if its not dud ram, you may just need a BIOS update. I tried googling to find an update for your board but i think I need more information, download and run this: http://www.belarc.com/Programs/advisor.exe and paste up the motherboard part of the web page that it creates, then i should be able to get you a link to a new BIOS to flash your motherboard to! When buying ram really you should try to get the exact same one you have bought before to avoid any conflicts. Also different size ram sticks can cause issues and I dont recommend it!!!! But as nick said do the mem test things. If you happen to have a linux live cd lying about you can use that. All distro's tend to come with it. Is this an oem machine or built? Could be why nick is having trouble on the bios front for mobo! |
