Removal of name from Mortgage

Does any one now anything about getting my name off a joint mortgage with my girlfriend..... it aint going to good with her & it has been going down hill the last few months, so i am thinking of bailing out & leaving her.

Do the Mortgage company do it or do i have to get a ripoff solicitor to do it?

:cry: ..you know how it is...if i aint in the Gym i am out with the hawk , shooting or walking....it isnt like we can got out anywhere because her kid kicks off when we try to.
THe relationship has just gone down hill the last few months & i cant see any way it will get better.....so i am thinking of calling it a day

Sorry to hear that mate. I was that annoying kid when I was alot younger, and yep I made it hard for my mum and her fella. Turned out he was an arsehole anyway so who cares

How old is the kid, maybe he/she will grow up a little and find other things to moan about

a solicitor will need to do this but the morgage company is involved and they will check if your girlfriend can afford the morgage on her earnings! so depending on how much she earns you might end up selling the house....

i just did this myself last year...unfortunately, you cannot simply take a name off a mortage since it is a legal debt currently in both names...one of you will have to assume the financial responsibility (re-finance would be the easiest method) in that name only, thus getting one name off...if neither of you can do that, then your best bet is to sell the property and split the proceeds, I was fortunate in that my ex agreed to sell for the loan amount and we paid it off and both went our seperate ways...good luck bro...
