Default people that dont have a clue at the gym!!

its ok for you lot who train at hardcore gyms but for people like me who only have the local sports centre it sucks. what do you do with these people. there are a few of these guys at my gym. i really dont know what the exercises are that they do. lots of swinging about. yeah we are all guilty of cheating a bit sometimes, but come on! on one occasion this guy picked up a pair of 10kg db and got into a position like he was gonna do a kind of bent row, but... he just started swinging them back and forth. he was rocking all over the shop. if these guys were built like tanks then ok, they must be doing something right. but they're not. what can you do. do you tell them they are wasting their time??

help!!!!!!!!!!

funny you should mention this. i have a few of theses guys at my gym and have just come from there. one lad of around 18 must of done like 15 sets of ten on bicep curls!! he was like "ten more and iv done my 150". i didnt know whether to ask him what his goals were and offer him some advice or not. i think i will next time, because at the end of the day, we all start somewhere and i needed the same kind of advice 3 or 4 years ago when i started.

i just went to the gym and the personal trainer/my friend there who is actually in great shape told me he does 6 sets for each exercise on a bodypart. There i was thinking, thats good, somebody that doesn't overtrain, 6 is even quite low. But then he added that he does 4 or 5 exercises for each bodypart, he said he does between 25 and 30 sets for biceps.

I couldnt believe it, partly because of his shape/size too !

Nick

I know what you mean splinter, i had to wait for this guy to finish on a bench the other day. how many sets i dont know!! he even used weights so light he could have gone on all night.

it just goes to show nick that what works for one doesnt work for another, you have to explore all the options and pick what works best for you, were all built different so nothing is writen in stone as far as reps and sets goes.

If he reduced his volume he may be in even BETTER shape...I think so.

But then again, I'm low volume.
