Default What medical tests should bodybuilders be regularly getting?

I'm going to book myself in for a full on medical, but will also be asking for tests for my cholesterol, perhaps test levels, my liver/kidney health and others (BP etc).

I'm not entirely sure what tests I need to get done though. Does anybody know what a full bodybuilder health check should comprise of? Bear in mind i've dabbled in anabolics this year too so need to get tests to see if i'm OK after them

Nick

You personally want to be looking at hormonal/liver/kidney/cholesterol tests i'd say.

If you can get away with it nick i wouldnt tell him!, it all gets on your medical record and "may" void any life insurances on mortgages etc, unless you go private!.

Bodybuilders should all have full psychiatric assessments

I would tell them. Patient confidentiality is something that the UK doctors are pretty good, they aren't legally allowed to show life insurance or mortgage companies. Plus, I think i'm going private

Im not sure if when you sign for life insurance cover that you agree to have your records made available to the insurance company in the event of anything going wrong with you!, il do a little digging because my dads going thru insurance claim at the moment because he developed angina and is goinig to have to have surgery, il check to see if he has had to make his medical records available!.

good luck with your tests anyway nick

You're incorrect nick, as Caymen says, a lot of insurance policies will require that you sign away rights to your medical records. There's no need to say you've been using AAS, most doctors except sport related or endocrinologists have no idea about anabolics anyway.

For one thing, I have 2 doctors in my family (pretty recently trained), neither of which have a clue - and i'm pretty sure Superdrol comes under the AAS category...
