Default Does anyone know???

My mate at work cant do anything without pulling a muscle (or several). He is mid thirties , a bit overweight but has a good diet . He used to train a lot up until a few years ago , moderate weights and fitness . Recently he found that everytime he went for a cycle or run or even any kind of manual work he was pulling muscles and aching joints . He said that he had been taking supplements for his joints and they arnt as bad now but still get sore. When i asked him about stretching he said that he stretched and warmed up properly everytime he was about to do anything . Seriously guys he cant do anything , even moving too fast .

Any help would be magic guys

Fiba

p.s his arm started to go numb today and it took a while before it settled down , he told me it happens quite frequently .Also the doctor recomended stretching (wich he already does) and told him to go back in a couple of months .

sounds like he probably has some kind of blood circulation problems. this could potentially be caused by high cholesterol, low blood pressure or i believe an iron deficiency in the blood (or indeed any deficiency in haemoglobin or red blood cells)

he should probably go for some blood tests at the doctorts, if he hasn't already.

i could be way off but thats what it says to me regarding the symptoms, im not a doctor tho

I heard that Asprin and Pro pluss can help with this as the asprin thins the blood and the pro plus increases heart rate . Is this true ?

Also could using light weights ,say maybe 5kg be used to create a minor pump in biceps for example, to increase blood flow before any exercise involving arms ??

Sounds like he needs to see a doctor or physio - probably in that order.

I thought since his problem was a muscular/joints problem and there are a vast number of BB and weight trainers on this site that maybe some of the members had come across this problem before .

When i first damaged my rotacuff the guys at the gym knew straight away what i had done . the doctors had to reffer me to a specialist to locate the problem who identified it as a rotacuff injury straight away . What im trying to say is that the guys in the gym had seen this injury many a time and in a lot of cases had experianced it themselves because they are directly connected to the sport and could see the problem a mile away . The same applies to the specialist .

I personaly think that our health service and doctors are excellent and realise that visiting the local GP was his best course of action. Because his GP couldnt recognise the problem and suggested he stretched, i thought it was worth a shot asking the people of this forum if they had any idea/personal experiance of what this condition could be .

I waited a few days after my origional post and it became clear that this was a condition none of the members here had experianced themselves (touch wood guys) . He promptly booked another appointment at the docs .

I will post again when he finds out what the condition is and hopefully it can be of help if anyone comes across the same problems

HEY GARRILA - I'm the heart surgery specialist on this site, what with having a titanium Aortic valve and the docs taking some of my research work from abroad to read up on.

And Joe, cod liver oil and glucosamine are related in a similar way to shit and loo roll, they both have an effect on your asshole bit they are not similar.
