| Join Date: Dec 2003 Posts: 0 Rep Power: ![]() | just wondering anyone use the handgrippers like the captains of crush ones? apparanetly they are ment to be quite hard to use. they come with different settings but i dont want to buy a pair which are too easy if you no what i mean. anyone got any feedback for us. cheers s |

| Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: florida usa Posts: 642 Rep Power: ![]() | think of it like this, the average human hand can exert 25 pounds of pressure per square inch. now i know we are all hulking giants of men who rip entire phonebooks in half and sack small villages just because we can... but thats the norm. so if joe blow can squeeze at 25 lbs you hve to look at yourself and ask, "am i this joe bolw of which he speaks?" really though, i read that the average american football player (nfl) can only crush at 32-35 lbs. now that may seem a lot but when you think about it its only 7-10 lbs for someone in that much better condition. another thing to consider is the size of your forearms. since the muscles in the forearm dictate your grip you can judge this way too. if you have those monstrous ape-like fore's then youre probably going to have a crusher of a grip. skinny arms...start a little lighter. you dont really have to buy a special gadget for this though, for most people a tennis or racquet ball will do. even a plastic soda bottle with the top on or an unopened soda can can do in a pinch. as long as the seal holds the can or bottle will provide equal and opposite force when you squeeze it. basically because its sealed and the contents have nowhere to go they push back against your hand. and i have yet to see someone pop a soda can with one hand. hope this helps, just my 2 cents. |

| Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: florida usa Posts: 642 Rep Power: ![]() | i have seen the power lifters do it with two hands...but these are guys who bend rebar with their bare hands and smash concrete blocks and slabs of ice and blow up red rubber water bottles until they pop...good luck and if you manage to do it take some pics or vid and show us how its done! |

| Under Construction Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: north west england Posts: 27 Rep Power: ![]() | I bought a pair of COC #1's and #2's from pullumsports (but to be honest it would probably have been cheaper to buy them from ironmind and get them sent from usa) - i can close the #1's relatively easily but cannot close the #2#s - bearing in mind I cand deadlift around 500lbs so have a reasonable grip. | Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: florida usa Posts: 642 Rep Power: ![]() | 500 lbs is big, i can get 315 on the smith rack, off the floor only about 250-275 and im 6' 225lbs. my brother and i teamed up and got 625lbs off the floor, it was a sort of charity event locally here, when they loaded it noone thought we could do it. in fact when we first started the lift i had my own doubts! good work though. ______________________ that which does not kill me only serves to make me stronger. |
