i like flys at the end of a chest session to streach my pec out.

if the bench you bought is the one i'm thinking of then it'll have fly things attached to the sides which your proberly best taking off and using dumbels instead mate

freeweights being best an all that

Sam

also if it is the one i'm thinking of then the stands for the bench press will be right where your hands need to go when you grab the bar, i caught the skin between my thumb and index finger when replacing the bar on one of these once and it hurt! Lots

Yeah I agree Flyes are best left till the end but thats just my personel opinion for what feels best for me

Flies are great if you keep within a sensible weight range, otherwise you're asking for shoulder injuries. I learned the hard way.

flyes are great if you go all the way and stretch the pec but remember to use weight that you can handle, as was just posted, and also to keep your shoulders back and try not to use them as much as you can, only chest. i had a problem with this, kept wanting to bring my shoulder up off the bench, this led to a strain and it burned like hell every time i tried to do a flye for months.

butterflys were what made my chest,

when i first started training i bought a multigym, by doing the butterflys i went from having no chest to big chest.

i rate them a 9/10

When i first started BB i didnt have a rack on my bench so i couldnt bench press, so i just did flies instead, and i had good gains from doing just them .My chest is the area that has improved the most and know what some of you mean about it bieng an akward exerssise but i perform it well as ive had lots of practice with them, i dont worry about using to heavy dumbells with this exercisse i just do them slowly. With the butterflies on my multi gym, im lifting a lot heavier than free weight flies as you dont have to worry about control so much.I think this multi gym was worthwile though as i can perform a lot more exercisses, even having a arm rest with it, helps me isolate my biceps, im thinking of mayby using my pulldown to work my tris aswell, the rack also helps my missus spot as she cant lift my weights on her own anymore so bargain in my opinion.
Cheers all
