I'm on a drive to lose the belly and drop from my current 20%estimated BF to 15%, well as low as i can go really (but its a goal huh). Until my b/day end of march i'm off the booze & i'm now upped the cardio to ED 1/2 hour (praps i'll extend this, when i get over the boredom of cardio). And i do my weights split 5days a week. I don't calorie count as yet but i'm taking in 6 very clean protien high meals and the only hard carbs each day are 60g oats early, 2x w/meal toast (morning). Thats all ! Naturally my other carbs are in my veg, these are approx 300g a meal. Oh, 2 meals are 90+ nutrisport shake and a handfull of peanuts plus a banana/apple. I may have a fittness test for a job within weeks and i'm desperate to slim down safely, quick as poss. Am i ok to go dieting without straight carbs (for want of better words) like i am? Cheers IC |

I can't see any reason why you can't up your cardio to 45 minutes. You need to do in excess of 20-25 minutes for the glycogen in your muscles to be depleted before your body turns to its fat stores for energy. This is where you benefit.I know the cross trainer is a boring task so to make it easier and to avoid 'clock watching' put your towel over the timer and put your fave tunes on your MP3.Focus on the music. If you can listen to your fave album from start to finnish then you'll have clocked up a good hour on that cross trainer.Try to keep your BPM (beats per minute) at around 70bpm,a nice constant pace, you don't need to kill yourself or set a new land speed record and you'll burn more fat at this rate.I'd bet my sister that you'll shave off a good 1000+ calories. If you can acheive that every day or every other day you'll be where you want to be. ______________________ "Practice puts brains in your muscles" Last edited by Gazz; 29-01-2008 at 05:04 PM. |

You are right about the cardio, it will lengthen bit by bit.. yeh the clock watchin is a killer i find. Booze is my accillies heel, its OUT totally. I can't have a cheeky one here n there, i can drink like a s.o.b. Reckon getting to kip will be a chalange tho... cheers mate! |

Ok its good fats and very good protein but seeing as you are,and i quote,"trying to shift the belly".I'd stick to fish, chicken and lean red meats.Handful of Oats to kickstart your day and keep with those vegetables.I know you said you don't count your calories but you know in your own mind whats hot and whats not in your daily diet, try to be diciplined. If your weight training 5 times a week and doing cardio the pounds will fall off.Its a simple equation of less in,more out. ![]() ______________________ "Practice puts brains in your muscles"

I go in 5xweek because its the only way i can do it (i tend to miss days here n there and mess up if i don't), but i'll take your advice and go lighter for the duration of this err diet / experiment. Tell you what tho the break from the beer alone will down those cals, i'd hazard a guess at 15 pints a week(min?!). What is it 300 cals/pint? My muscle size can take it i'm sure, but it'd be damn nice to see it properly! 190lbs @ 5'9" Any more thoughts very welcome, wish me luck!! ![]()
