"Creatine will convert to creatinine in the stomach unless protected by an enteric coating, which prevents the tablet containing the creatine from breaking down in the harsh acids of the stomach. The tablet will pass into the alkaline base intestines where the special coating will allow the tablet to break apart and be absorbed."

what are people's views on taking creatine with meals? anita bean's review of the literature shows that the insulin rise after an average meal is sufficient to drive creatibe into the muscles, yet many people still believe that it is necessary to consume creatine alongside very high GI carbs like dextrose. the advantage of consuming creatine with a meal is that the food lowers the pH in the stomach and so has a natural buffering effect to prevent this conversion to creatinine. would save this alot of money but it depends on holding the view that ingestion with meals creates a sufficient rsie in insulin.

I don't have the reference offhand, but creatine uptake has been shown to be independent of insulin. The points regarding pH however are well thought out.

Hi Razg,i want to try WMS,however, the general opinion that whey concentrate/isolate negates the effect of WMS has put me off using the stuff.

I take it you have seen good results without using hydrolysed whey?

I've personally never used it. My strategy would be to mix WPC with free form aminos.

Could you clarify your point regarding negation?

Allegedly the absorption rate of WMS is slowed down considerably by using "normal" whey.

Sugar factor aside,as the fast uptake is the main reason for using WMS,it then supposedly loses any potential benefits.

Im hoping someone tells me otherwise

I don't buy this. I believe hydrolization is rarely above 15% - the majority of the whey still there is "normal", i.e. the stomach is required to break down the protein. I can't see how the requirement for hydrolization blocks the WMS absorbtion. This is taking into account that one of the major selling points for WMS is that it moves easily through membranes (given its low molecular weight). If you want to be ultra sure, mix WMS with free form amino acids.
