This wholemeal rice is so hard to cook ive wasted a whole bag today its keeps coming out in one big rice pudding type lump, vile!!! all help much appreciated... ______________________ dream like you liove forever, live like you die tomorrow. |

| Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Australia Posts: 220 Rep Power: ![]() | 1 cup rice to 2.5 cups of water - put in micorwave bowl with a lid and microwave for 30 minutes on high. Job done. Or, buy a cheap rice cooker and follow the makers instructions. You might also want to consider washing the rice using a sieve before hand until the water runs clear, as this may stop it from sticking too much. |

| Legend Join Date: Apr 2004 Location: Near Chesterfield Posts: 725 Rep Power: ![]() | Several options if you're not pre contest; Uncle Ben's and Tilda 2 minute microwave rice do some very tasty recipies, my favorite dead easy, fast and taste good, just massage the bag to break the rice up before you cook it. and if you work somewhee with a microwave you can have warm food. Uncle Ben's boil in the bag is good just boil a kettle pour into a pan and add the bag tens minutes and you've got fluffy rice. I mostly use Basmati pre contest as it's lower GI to which weigh out your portion size put in a pan again and cover with boiling water, better to err on the side of too much and simmer for 15 minutes THe non processed is the cheapest and I tend to think the most nutritionally sound but also easier to end up with a big lump of stoge |
