My breakfast shake - circa 1000kcal...

400ml milk
1 scoop oats (approx 100ml or 75g)
2 scoops maltrodextrin (approx 100g)
2 scoops whey (approx 100g)

You could also add some flax seed oil into that.

I add in some chocolate flavouring too - about 3g or so.

Takes nice - like chocolate oaty biscuits. Its high Carb - but a mixture of low gi and high gi - maltro is a complex carb but it has the same insulin spike as dextrose which is a simple carb.

Hope that helps.

Oh and I buy all the above from myprotein.

Good question mate... I've no idea to be honest...

I had a quick google but that didn't elicit any answers. I only posted the info on about the spike as most bulking/mass powders use maltro when I'm not 100% convinced its the best idea - they say its low gi but all my research says otherwise... But I could be wrong...

My guess is that your gonna need some thing like maltro on a bulk if your bulking via shakes as oats would make it too heavy. Plus have something like that should give you quick and long lasting energy. They keep me feeling full for a good 3 hours.

Hope that helps

ok thanks just wanted to keep diet as clean as possible so trying not to eat any simple carbs thats why i was going for oats

what are peoples opinions on raw eggs though? i know arnie recommmends them but im a bit worried about salmonella (just about the quickest way to lose any gains!!)

6 raw egg whites
1 pint skimmed milk
2 tablespoon peanut butter
2 scoops whey
100 grams oats
5 ice cubes
1 banana

.. on the raw egg thing I say as long as you are going for 'lion quality' eggs you are fairly safe - i ate 18 raw eggs whites a day for almost 9 months with no problem at all.

Peanut butter in it. Pleanty. Tastes good and really helps during bulking.

Aha Nick is putting more milk in than me. Good thinking.

I was sure I saw something a while ago about egg whites...

J A Hyman (Titanics Ltd) Pasteurized Egg White

Its pasteurised so you should be fine - and cheap as chips too!

Dunno what the taste is like tho...
