Default Help with weight issue

After a very long illness I had put on around 3 extra stone,Due to just being laid up and scoffing chocolate with little or no exercise.

3 weeks ago I kicked myself in gear and went to my local gym

First weigh in I was 15st 8lbs , I go to the gym 3 times a week with around 30-40 minutes of cardio and around 45 minutes of weights each time.

My weight dropped down to 15 stone,Which I was really happy about,But after training today I have gone back to 15st 7lbs.

I have cut all crap out of my diet and I am eating around 5 times a day.
Taking cyclone supplements before and after training.

I do look like weight is coming off but am worried why it has gone down and back up again so quickly. I know some people say dont keep and eye on the figures and as I am feeling very good physically Im not going to stress about it.

Just wanted some advice as to why this has happened. the weighing ,machine is a electronic one and did make my height around 3 inches shorter than normal so could it be the machine has gone loopy?

Any help and advice is greatly welcolmed as I am determined to keep up my weights and cardio, I would like to end up around 13 stone 5 to 14 stone and to be a more muscled because of illness I lost alot of my muscle.

Im 6 foot tall and weigh I think 15 stone 2 but who knows now.

With Thanks
Simon f

hey

Dont keep looking at the scales for a while and just keep at it.

doing heavy weights uses alot of calories aswell so make sure you do them to keep your strenght up.

BTW you have posted the same question twice

agree ignore the scales for while, however id go for higher rep range, say 15s. reason been you should burn off more cals with a higher rep range...

Some of the more experianced guy's will be along soon, they may back me up or say it's an old myth.. It's just what ive been told..

Allo.

Have a look at:

Bodybuilding.com - Topic Of The Week - What Is The Best Rep And Set Range For Building Muscle?

and

What Happens within the muscles in response to different rep ranges?

High Reps should assist in burning fat. However by increasing your weights with a lower rep range you can acheive muscle hyper-trophy you should increase your basal metabolic rate (Or in plain english the more muscle you have the more stored fat you body wants to break down to use as fuel).

You weight loss could be down to / affected by water retention - PsCarbs gained about 17lb of water in a week due to rebound.

Get your self some scales for home which you can use - if you want to shell out for ones with a BF% checker in thats upto you.

Fat takes up about 130% of volume when compared to muscle so initially you are looking for clothes being looser - I wouldnt worry about weight too much, just use the mirror and a soft tape measure.

Have you had much experience of working out? It may be worth while starting off doing a full body workout each time you go, perhaps as AliM suggested in the 12-15 Rep range. Just doing all the compound exercises, weights note hugely heavy.

This should kick start your metabolism and give your body chance to adjust for when you start splitting your workout.

Cardio can be catabolic - so either go for low impact such as walking or perhaps set the cross trainer to a high resistance level as it should in theory get your body thinking that you are going for anabolism.

Sorry if thats a ramble!

Hi mate

U may be very receptive to carbs, i would cut carb portions, maybe to 50g a sitting and keep them from clean sources such as oats , rice , potatoes. Hell i only need to look at pasta and im 2lbs heavier lol, once the weight loss subsides slowly lower them further, but keep protein high. I know u will lose more weight this way.

Hi mate.
Has the weight increased since you started the cyclone product?.
I ask this as cyclone from maximuscle contains creatine which gives you water weight, so that could maybe explain the weight increase.

Remember muscle is denser than fat. So you may have lost more fat and gained some muscle.

The best way to lose weight is weights and some cardio.

Do like an 40min/hour (depends how much you can do) weights session and end with a 20/30 minute cardio.

By doing weights you'll continue to burn fat once you've finished training. It will also increase your metabolism, and over time that will burn more calories.

If you're just starting off, then I'd recommend the cross trainer as opposed to runner, as you're more likely to finish the 20/30 minute session as opposed to the run. Plus they pretty much burn the same amount of calories.

If you're a member of a gym which has classes, I'd recommend one of those. It's much easier to push yourself when in a class with other people.

Good luck, mate. Just keep it up and going to the gym will be like a drug.

Strength training with weights will keep your metabolism raised for up to 48 hours compared to cardio that keeps it raised for up to 4 hours. By weight lifting every other day or a similar regimen you will be able to burn more calories ALL of the time. I am also losing fat (not weight , but struggling with the late night munchies. All the best bro. Lift heavy!
