Especially about using very high heat to dry milk to get the whey out of it. Then the article said that the whey protein is inherently fragile and must be processed at low temperatures or its qualities as a protein are destroyed. Here is the site. They are not selling anything so I do believe this is okay. If not, delete it and let me know why. Hyperbole Meets High-Tech: Slick Sales Talk and Modern "Energy Bars" by Sally Fallon and Mary G. Enig, PhD Back to the task at hand. Does anyone know where I can find out all the different types of proteins and absorption rates. Example: whey isolate - 30 mins Thanx gang, hope everything is going well and everyone is lifting heavy ______________________ Socrates believed that a man would make the right decision if he knew all aspects of the situation. It pisses me off to think that once again as a consumer we are getting *u**ed at the starting point of the production process of our most important supplement. Please, someone tell me that this is wrong. TALK ME DOWN!!! LOL ______________________ Socrates believed that a man would make the right decision if he knew all aspects of the situation. Ballpark that's all I'm looking for. ______________________ Socrates believed that a man would make the right decision if he knew all aspects of the situation. For example how much protein you take in has an impact the more you have the longer it takes, fats play a huge role too as do other food combinations. Plus liquid proteins are absorbed quicker than solid sources. At best, you'll likely get that whey protein shakes are absorbed within an hour or two, casein will take 6-8 hours. Fish is quite short too due to the low fat and fibre content so that'll be a few hours, chicken and turkey are more dense so you'll be looking at around 4-6 hours for those. Then stuff like cheese, beef steak etc, that have higher fat contents you can be looking at 8-12 hours to digest. But, like I said it depends on too many variables. Your much better off making sure you get some protein in every 2-3 hours. it's less stressful and therefore you'll be releasing less cortisol which'll just f**k everything up!! ______________________ APPLIED KNOWLEDGE, IS POWER!!! | Making Progress Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: USA Posts: 130 Rep Power: ![]() | THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. I did understand when X said it would vary, and this is exactly what I was looking for. I know our bodies differ a little and sometimes more, but I knew there had to be some kind of absorbtion rating. One day I was reading that Whey Isolate Protein will absorb in 30-60 minutes. I know if I combine the WIP with oats for breakfast, it would slow the absorbtion of the protein and will keep it available in my system for a little longer, hopefully til my next meal. I really just want to make sure that there is always protein in my body, ready to use 24 hours a day, or as close as I can get to that. Protein Times (in minutes) Whey Isolate 30-60 Whey Concentrate ??? Soy Isolate 120-180? Soy Concentrate ??? Micellar Caseinated 240?-360? These are just times that I read because I could not find anything else on this matter that wasn't an advertisement. Thanks guys for the help and please list some other forms of protein that I can research. ______________________ Socrates believed that a man would make the right decision if he knew all aspects of the situation. I think of myself as a pretty good researcher and I usually find what I'm looking for. When I first wanted to know it wasn't a big deal, now I'm just pissed I can't find the answer. So I am on a quest. Neil gave me some general figures for whole foods, but I am also looking for the times for supplemental proteins. My diet is clean and I eat eggs, pork, beef, chicken, turkey, and fish daily. I am getting enough protein and all my EAA's through my real food and a couple bars here and there and whey isolate. I am not really seeking the information for application as much as I am for the sake of curiosity. As always I appreciate everyone's input. ______________________ Socrates believed that a man would make the right decision if he knew all aspects of the situation. Neil I have no idea who the hell drinks that s**t, but my wife bought a few soy concentrate turkey steaks. They weren't the best thing I ate that day, but at 65% protein I wasn't bitchin. I would say that the soy proteins would be at the same time ratio than the whey, so maybe I could switch out my micellar caseinated protein shake for some fake steaks at bed time. If soy concentrate stays active in my system for as long as my shake does or close to it, I would fill safe switching it up every couple of nights. I think we all appreciate a little variety in our diets when we can. To Better Explain What I Mean By Time Ratio 30-120 minutes is to 60-240 minutes as 120-180 minutes is to ?240-360? Whey Isolate . . . Concentrate . . . . . Soy Isolate . . . . . . . Concentrate Thanx for the brain cells Neil. I wish I had the compilation of information you've gathered over the years. Second thought, it would most likely just spur more questions. ______________________ Socrates believed that a man would make the right decision if he knew all aspects of the situation.
