I used to train about 10 years ago and seemed to do ok but having got type 1 diabetes 5 years ago all my training stopped. now ive decided to get back into it and would really appreciate some advice on my diet as listed below. I train 4 times a week concentrating on 2 body parts per session and my goal is to bulk up but not wanting to increase my body fat if thats possible?? Breakfast (7.30am): oats and water 1 bannana and 1/2 pint semi skimmed milk mixed with 2 raw egg whites 1 apple Lunch (12.30-1pm): 2 wholemeal pitta breads with scrambled egg or tuna or chicken fillets with mixed salad (lettuce, red onion, green pepper, mangetout, carrot) 1 pear or apple Tea (5-6pm): 2 Baked potatoes with tuna, mixed salad. 1 apple. sometimes swap potatoes for pasta or rice. After training (8pm): 1 chicken fillet an 1 whole egg and 3 egg white omlette with tuna and quark or cottage cheese 3-4 Pints of water each day I try not to have too many snacks as this makes my bs fluctuate im grateful for any advice cheers |

Meal 1 has no direct protein source other than milk which is a poor source IMO. Meal 3 has tuna as a protein source and its not a good source bcos it only has 14 out of 22 amino acids. You say meal 4 is after training, I bet its not soon enough after and there is no carbs so how do you expect to replenish your glycogen levels? You should be having a post workout shake, being diabetic you'll need to watch blood sugar levels so a lot of post workout drinks won't be suitable but I think something like our Performance Mass would be good for you as it has Fructose (low GI), Maltodextrin and Pre Germinated Barley (low GI) and whey. You could increase your solid protein intake or go for some protein drinks, a protein blend would be best as it has a slow absorption compared to whey which could alter your blood sugar levels. PM me if you need any advice as I'll forget to check back to the thread! ______________________ www.extremenutrition.co.uk - 25% OFF FOR ALL MC MEMBERS, discount code MCD25. www.betterbodies.uk.com Seriously cheap sports nutrition!
