Default Brown Rice

Hello people. I was just wondering if anyone has any good recipies to eat for brown rice, I am starting to get sick of eating it plain. Ideally I am after some kind of sauce that I could make/buy to mix with the rice to add flavour.

Also, whilst Im here, although I eat loads of the stuff I am not entirely sure why I have to do it. I know why I am using brown rice, because of its low GI. But why is carbohydrate so important in bulking and cutting cycles. Is it simply an energy thing or is there more to it?

Cheers, Steve.

Carbs are your bodies prefered energy source. Eating enough carbs allows protein to be used to build muscle instead of used for energy, which isn't very efficient, thats why Atkins dieters loose weight when they drop carbs.

As for the taste, try some pesto!

perhaps a brown rice salad, I love them although it may not be suitable if you are trying to cut as there are a lot of fat/calories in the original recipe but if you adapt it to suit I am sure it will work out as a nice alternative to plain rice.

this is wrong Kruz for 2 reasons...

1 - the reason why Atkins dieters lose weight when they start that diet is because for each gram of carbs your body takes in it also takes in 3g of water so by dropping the cars you also reduce the water hence the immediate drop of water.....

2 - when you drop carbs you must replace them with good fats to be used for energy if you do not do this then the protein you eat some of it will be converted in to to simple sugars (pyruvate will minimise this) again this is why the Atkins diet suggests you eat high fat foods...

mrHulahoop - i would swap your brown rice for basmati rice as the GI for basmati rice is much lower than normal white rice but tastes much better than brown...

Thanks.

I actually should know all of this. Im a qualified biologist, its just that all my human biology has been forgotten since I was at college.

I eat brown balsmati rice, which as far as I know has a very low GI.

try adding a vegatable stock cube to the water when boiling your rice, it flavours the rice while it cooking
