Default Contest Dieting Over Christmas

Just wanted to ask what other's experiences have been like about dieting over the Christmas period. I guess I already know what sacrifices are going to have to be made but I was wondering how people have managed mentally to sustain their diet at this time

Since my chat with my coach last week, we've been looking at starting the cut 20/22 weeks out - I'd already worked out that would mean starting the first week of December.

It hit home last night when my wife was looking through a Christmas catalogue and going - "Oh, that will be nice. Oh yes,we'll have some of them etc etc".

I've been very good with my diet so far and am pretty confident about my willpower, but this looks like an especially testing time

Anyway, how have other people managed?

its always tricky and youll never get it spot on over xmas... why not speak to your coach and ask what his sugegstions are... and what type of diet you wil be planning?

alot of people cycle their carbs calories... so you may want to look to do this and have planned cheat days!

my own opinion tho is once your dieting your dieting... as long as you have your food prepared then there should not be a problem as youll be focussed on your condition and wont want to eat sausage rolls and pickled onions!!

in my opinion 20+ weeks dieting is not the best approach unless you have a bodyfat percentage above 25....

in my opinion there is no need to diet for anylonger than 16 weeks this is plenty of time to get down to a very low BF% for your comp...i have just prepped 2 guys and 1 girl for our local show next week in 11 weeks i have dropped 44lbs off one of the guys it can be done and 16 weeks is plenty of time plus you will get to enjoy christmas...

id say give yourself the extra few weeks.. if your ready early it just means youll be harder for your show (or could even fit in a few shows).. why diet 22 weeks and only do 1 show???

Thanks guys. I'm getting my bf checked on Wednesday and I'll post that up because I think that will have some bearing on my calculations. It was 16 six weeks ago but I ate appalingly on holiday so it may have gone up slightly.

I guess my basic logic was that this is completely unknown territory for me, so the longer I give it the better chance I give myself. Anyways, I'll see what the latest reading shows

I have to disagree with you Lee as because Squatty has never shown before we do not know how he will be able to handle a diet of 22 weeks hell i would find that hard to do....
plus when he does peak early it will be much harder to hold that condition because he is new to the game....

in my opinion anyone can diet for a show in 16 weeks...
