Default Fruit or Bread

At the moment I'm eating 2 peices of fruit as a late evening snack. I have a Protein Shake 3 hrs after my fruit. Bananas and apples are simple carbs, so i was thinking of having two wholemeal rolls instead. Which do you think is healthier and more beneficial? I am a boxer.

Cheers

Andy

All depends really, id say the wholemeal bread as the energy is slower releasing where as some fruits like banana's are faster releasing energy. So depends on you 15 or 30 mins b4 a workout possibly banana. An hour b4 id say wholemeal bread.

Personally i dont have any carbs after 5.30pm and then it makes up only 25% of that paticular meal.

Not eating carbs after 5.30 is a tight regime in my opinion.

Default carbs

I think it depends on what carbs ,how much and when .

(ie) just finished a hard workout late at night then even though insulin sensitivity is decreased normally in the evening because you have exercised it is a different ball game and the body is much more efficient at processing carbs even when you are asleep .

If you havent trained and if it is a small carb meal (ie) calories then using the older g.i index or maybe the more up to date insulin index to choose your carb source might be wise but not vital .

If it is a big carb meal again regarding total calories then I would say it depends but generally I would say the choice becomes more important again using the G.I / insulin index to choose your carb source .

I say generally because you may be practicing Dans Bodyopous or Di Pasquales Metabolic Diet or his older Anabolic diet . If that is the case then everyting goes out of the window if you are carb loading . Also dont forget the G.I and Insulin index have critics (ie once you throw fat or protein into the equation it changes everything .

Have to agree with Dinosaur interms of reducing total carbs in the evening as a generalisation . Who is right and who is wrong ??? No one knows and this is just my opinion I could be totally wrong and respect Extremes opinion . Obviously what he does regarding diet and training works for him very well , why change what works ????.

I would say experiment yourself and find out what works and what doesnt for your own body . You might be able to eat carbs regardless of source till the cows come home and not gain any fat or just look at them and gain weight .

Hope this helps and sorry about the spelling it is pretty late (lol)
