Default help, please!!??

i have just started to try and bulk up. i can't afford to join a gym and so only train at home. i eat plenty of what i think are the right foods ( pasta tuna, eggs etc) i only really train my upper body with occasional legs workout.
one of the problems i have is that i work shifts. will this cause problems if continue to eat throughout the night.
i also drink a friends homemade protein drink which consists of 400ml of semi-skimmed milk 5 teaspoons of dried milk and 3 teaspoons of flavouring( strawberry nesquik)
is this any good, not trying to plead poverty but with 3 kids moneys always gonna be tight.
any tips on training would be appreciated

thanks

I think it would be helpful if you could post a more exact timetable of your training and diet, then we can take a look and give you some advice on sharpening it up - there's plenty of low cost solutions to bulking.

hey bud-you really must start doing leg work-it has a knock on effect for the whole body-
i worked shifts for years-just eat as you normally would-ie 6 meals aday-doesnt matter what time you get up and eat breakfast-
your home made protein drink is fine-theres nothing wrong with milk if you can tolerate it(i`ve been meaning to add some skimmed milk powder for a while now-as suggested in brawn )
checkout garry`s stickied workout in the beginners section 8)
btw theres nothing wrong with training at home.

I always advocate training in a gym if possible as personally I find it more motivational but this isn't the same for everyone.

Milk is nutritionally poor due to the amount of milk sugar compared to other sources of protein of a similar price regardless of how you argues the assimilation and tolerance argument. Whilst the GI is exceptionally low theres still a significant amount of sugars more than in concentrated whey powder. Bulk Powders whey would yield much better leaner gains.

www.bulkpowders.co.uk whey concentrate will suit you fine. buy some black star flavouring system with it too for extra taste, but not necessary.

I agree with Young Gun about the shake. Also Nesquick is almost all sugar.

Good luck
