Default Last effort before i burn fat

Hey guys

Im not a big guy mass wise.

Im an ectomorph, im 6ft 2 and weight about 12 stone with a body fat % of about 11

Im gonna spend the next week (maybe 2) gaining as much weight as i can, eating and training myself to the limits before i burn off some more fat to get a more defined look.

Anyone got any tips of any sort on the diet and what body fat percentage i should aim for?

Also is there a speficic time of year when people should start aiming for a 6 pack or does it depend on genetics? opinions?

Firstly, you're not going to see much difference in only 2 weeks.
If your aim is to get bigger then you need to spend at least a good couple of months eating like a ba***rd and training heavy and hard. Do this until you're at a size your happy with OR your body fat gets to high (ideally no more than around 20 - 22%) Then start some intense cardio.

Secondly, if its only a six pack you're after then start on it now with a good routine of crunches, leg raises and of course plenty of cardio to get your BF down low enought to see the results. (check out the training sections, there's plenty of useful suggestions for your routine.

So, you can see that depending on what your goals are the advice is going to be different.

With regards to is there a better time to go for a six pack, well most people would agree that we tend to keep body fat in the winter. But hard work will still shift it!

Anyone got any tips of any sort on the diet and what body fat percentage i should aim for? this is completely up to you, each persons goals vary

Also is there a speficic time of year when people should start aiming for a 6 pack or does it depend on genetics? opinions? yes, all year round!...genetics has nothing to do with it
my recommendation is one of two things...either go with a nice steady clean bulk or bulk heavy and hard and then cut back about 15 pounds...but you cant cut and bulk at the same time, its just not possible...

i have been bulking over the winter, gained about 0.5kg in weight wohoo lol but i dont really want to CUT the weight, just want to burn some body fat for definition.

Im still going to be lifting heavy and eating tonnes more protein then i am now, as that has been my downfall.

So i guess its more of a diet question.

I know pasta and porridge are good but what else is good to help burn fat without loosing the actual muscle mass?

0.5 kgs in winter (2 months...), your definitely not eating enough mate

You want to stay the same weight but burn body fat? Its near impossible to do that, it would be a simultaneous gain in muscle whilst cutting... The whole point of your bulk through winter (which should have netted you at least 10lbs of 'weight') is that you now cut off the fat you just put on..

Im still going to be lifting heavy and eating tonnes more protein then i am now, as that has been my downfall.

how much protein per day?

Sorry, are you asking what carb sources help burn fat? None... cardio and a calorific deficit will help you lose fat. In terms of carb sources that are low GI and therefore cause less insulin sensitivity -> normally aimed for if trying to lose fat, then oats, brown rice, sweet potatoes are your main friends, brown bread, brown pasta not quite as good but still OK.

Comments in bold above

Given by your progress pics, I would strongly urge you to not do this cut, your already very lean, get eating like double what you have been on your 'bulk' and pack on the mass !! Then do this 'cut' once you have gained 10 - 20lbs hopefully in the next 3 - 4 months ready for the beach...

mate, your tall

cutting at 12 stone will leave you looking immaciated.

you really want to be 11 stone to get them abs in?

my advice if you do.

cardio and calorie deficit

all the above advice is spot on.

tbh i think you would be better clean bulking the whole year.
