personally i just crack the totally raw egg, split the white from the yolk. yolk goes down the sink, white in the blender, shell in the bin. repeat.

Uncooked egg protein isn't assimilated very well, so I'd definitely suggest you heat before use. Raw eggs can also inhibit the absorption of biotin - this can lead to hair loss.

Nick m8 why you throw away the yolk? It's good for ya and has amino acids that are not found in the white. :-D

for two obvious reasons:

cholesterol
fat.

egg yolk has one of the highest concentrations of cholesterol (they recommend no more than 3 egg yolks a week ... it would be 126 in my case if i ate yolks) and there is saturated fat in there that is not wanted.

i looked into raw eggs a while ago and half the protein in them is in the yolk so your throwing half of it away. your body adapts to cholesterol and its absorbtion reduces the more you consume. i get through 30 large eggs a day and got tested a few weeks ago and my levels are at the high end but still safe for my age i'll need to make changes for my mid 40's though.

i have them all raw yes the protein is easier to absorb cooked but it still absorbs raw as well and if it takes longer to work through then your probably getting the protein in your system over a longer time period which could be an advantage

not strictly true. some of the bioavailability of egg protein is only available after the egg has been at least partially cooked. plus, eating raw eggs opens you up to all kind of nasty bacterial diseases.

Indeed, the primary source of LDL cholesterol in the body is saturated fats.
