I only eat wholewheat pasta usualy but is white pasta used in theese ready made meals nutritionaly as good as wholewheat pasta?and its the same with the rice whats wrong with white rice.Yes i eat whole foods but sometimmes i dont fully understand why as white bread for example has as much carbs as wholemeal bread and i dont think the carbs in white bread come from all suger. Thank you |

Similar to the insulin spike you can create by consuming glucose/dextrose post workout, you can get a similar effect from white rice. So basically unless its post workout you want to consume carbohydrates that are lower glycemic index, i.e. brown/wholemeal carbs, otherwise you will cause your insulin to rise and potentially store fat. | Its to do with the rate at which the energy is released, in white bread and pasta they are released quicker than in whole grain foods. Its better to have a slow release of carbs than a fast release. You are more likely to put on weight eating simple carbs. EDIT nick beat me to it | |

If you're trying to increase your weight you need to eat an excess of calories. do you think that if you eat wholemeal pasta that excess won't be converted into fat but white pasta calories would. wholemeal foods are preferable but get your priorities straight. i don't know one single competing bodybuilder who bulks up on exclusively wholemeal foods. |
