| Under Construction | could u guys hav a look n tell me if my diet is ok, im 5'9", 80kg, bf approx 25% ( female(3 different measurements & mirror)), im looking to loose some more body fat and make some lean gain. wake: whey 8am 10am:veg sticks & houmus/tahini or 2 eggs 1pm: chicken breast, salad & wholemeal pitta 3:30pm: 1/2wholemeal pitta, banana& nut butter 4-6pm: WORKOUT 8pm: steak n veg, sugar free jelly with berries 11pm: fish or cottage cheese ive also put my routine up in the beginners section. your help is appreciated. thanx. x |

| Join Date: Dec 2003 Posts: 0 Rep Power: ![]() | how long have you been training for? it is very difficult to lose fat AND gain muscle at the same time after about 6 months of training, however beginners can often get away with it (and make use of those awesome beginners gains!), i'd be looking at more of a high protein/cutting diet if your hoping to get leaner you are eating every 2-3 hours which is a good start whey and oats in the morning is great, same as me at 10am i'd try and add some more protein here, maybe like a tuna/chicken salad instead? and you could keep in the veg sticks, if eating eggs its best to avoid the yolks and just eat the whites the next meal is good, pre-workout i'd go with another protein shake and some oats, the protein from the shake will get into your system fast and the oats will provide you with sustained energy to get through your workout as steve said add in a protein shake PWO, and if you want a banana now is the best time to eat it as its a high GI fruit, whey protein is a must post-workout as it absorbs faster than other protein sources and right after a workout is when your body needs protein the most if eating steak ensure it is rump/topside as that is the leanest cut you can get, other leaner protein choices will include chicken or fish, also maybe try and add in a sweet potato or some rice, and of course have the SF jelly in moderation 11pm looks fine, cottage cheese should be your 1st choice before bed as the protein is digested over a period of several hours, i'd also add in some fish oil capsules, EFA's are really beneficial and that is the main thing that you seem to be lacking in that diet at the moment, about 4-5 caps should do nicely hope that helps! |

| Under Construction | godfather thanx for the advice, well appreciated. i do actually have a shake post work out, i just forgot to write it up. when u say 4 or 5 caps of efa's i presume u mean daily? yeah the sugar free jelly, ive got a really sweet tooth so this is supposed to be my substitute, i think i would commit murder if i didnt get something sweet,lol. thanx again for the advice, will work a few of ur suggestions into my diet n see how i go for a few months. fankoo. xx |

| Join Date: Dec 2003 Posts: 0 Rep Power: ![]() | yeah 4-5 caps per day, generally best before bed as they will slow the digestion of that last meal if you have the time it might be worth posting your diet up here http://www.ironmagazineforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=8 the girls on this board (esp. jodi and emma) really know their stuff! and always give great feedback, it might be worth checking out what they say as they are the experts (i learnt a lot from them) anyways good luck with it, you seem very determined, hope all it goes well |
