Default Should my strength be going up when cutting or am I a freak!

As some of you have read I am cutting for a comp in june and am on a reduced carb/increased protein diet with morining cardio before breakfast.

Now I realise that my endurance will be affected due to lack of fuel/glycogen no matter what I take but I was expecting a drop in the weight I am using.

I have lost a stone so far in 20 days and am around 15 stone 2lbs.
My squat has increased by about 30-40lbs when completing 6 reps. I know this maybe due to bodyweight decreasing and therefore I can add this weight to the bar, but things like tricep pushdowns and decline bench have gone up by 5-10kg. I think the only exercise that has lost initial strength is dumbell shoulder presses.

Any ideas or am a I a freak?

J

It's just that i read somewhere that as you restrict your carb intake and you deplete it you start using fat for energy, and the fat is better than carbs (thats why you store it as fat) for physical activity. Hence you might get stronger.

tis a bit wierd. gud tho. I find wen i cut up n feel abit weaker the next thing to go is my confidence. Almost like u expect 2 feel weaker n wait 4 it. Your gettin stronger still whilst cuttin so your confidence is still nice n high. Confidence plays a big role 4 me dont kno bout u?

it does for me, i,m down to under 15 stone and feel shit

j you are a freak, i,ve lost strength only about 10 kg on everything.

but your gaining. this is strange as they say anything over a stone lost and strength loss is inevitable.

it is good, because when you bulk next time you will be so strong,

Dont get me wrong I'm glad my strength is still there, but my size has gone down due to no glycogen in the muscles. I want my 17.5-18 inch arms back

Maybe its still too early and it might catch up with me and weights will drop 30kg in a week or something.

I've gone up and down in weight so many times from 12 stone to 7.5 stone to 16.5 stone to 12.5 stone to 16.5 stone and now 15 stone., so my confidence doesn't really get affected that much as it always comes back quick and anything above 7.5 stone is good.

I will keep everyone posted on the strength/muscle size loss/gain throughout my cutting phase.
