Default Amino Acids & Protein

What is the situation regarding Amino acids? Do the amino acids (all combined) make up protein? If I take amino acid supplements, is that as good as protein? What is the relationship between aminos and protein does anyone know?

They are isolated singular amino acids and are what our bodies use to make 75% of our non water and fat weight. Our body uses acids and enzymes to break down the food we eat, into basic nutrient classes that are absorbed by billions of villi in our small intestines. These 6 basic nutrient classes are critical to us having a healthy body: they are Vitamins, Minerals, Carbs, Fats, Water, and of course Proteins(amino acids).

In nature our body digests proteins from the likes of dairy, tofu, animal or any other sources, into isolated singular amino acids. Freed of their peptide bonds (basically the links bonding amino acids together to form proteins) so our bodies can absorb them.

Basically if we take the water & fat out of our bodies, amino acids make up 75% of what is left. Everything from the neurochemicals that make our brain work and function properly to the hormones and the protein our bodies use to regulate and rebuild itself are created from singular isolated amino acids.

Besides building cells and repairing tissue they also form antibodies which combat invading bacteria and viruses: they are part of the enzyme and hormonal system: they build nucleoproteins(RNA&DNA to us): and carry oxygen throughout the body as well as participate in muscle activity.

Unable to be stored in the body, essential amino acids must be supplied dailyf the 22 amino acids commonly found in nature, 8-10(essentials) must be supplied through a diet of high quality protein or a supplementation. An imbalanced diet, stress, activity levels, and various other factors can and do contribute to an unblanced amino acid metabolism.

People that are stressed, or mentally fatigued, also ranging from weightlifters/bodybuilders right through to endurance athletes, or for anyone who may not be getting a balanced diet, in amino acids these supplements offer a powerful nutritional tool. The results we get fromtaking an amino acid supplement are going to be greatly dependant, on us choosing the right combination of amino acids to meet the goals we have set ourselves, fundamentally all the tissues compromising our hair, skin, nails, and our organs are made up of proteins, and therefore will be influenced by the amino acids we ingest.

In addition to the tissues our digestive and regulatory enzymes, hormones, blood sugar, blood proteins and our brain chemicals are also composed of amino acids. So depending on the specific formula we choose, be it either to support muscle growth, fat regulation, brain stimulation or just to fortify our diet, then our expectations will be met.

To sum up what i have tried to explain Isolated-singular amino acids play the key role in protein catabolism, and since our bodies solids, excluding fat, are 75% protein which play a critical role for overall good health. A variety of lifestyles and conditions can indicate an imbalanced protein catabolism, and a need for amino acid supplements, that are "pre-digested" or peptide-bonded amino acids must be further digested and many may retain many allergic food source charateristics. Whereas isolated-singular amino acids not only offer no digestion and no food source charateristics, but they can be formulated to meet a variety of specific catabolic needs.

Sorry if it sound like gobbledegook Si but i type what my brain tells me if you cant get your head around it mate then i have no doubt that one of the other guys would simplify it for you anyhow i hope you catch the drift so to speak.

Dave.

Protein is broken down in the body into Aminos. Think of it like protein is the raw material and for the body to utilise this raw material it must break it down into the little pieces which stimulate the responses, example;

Glutamine stimulates growth hormone release
Tyrosine stims the thyroid
Acetyl L Carnitine stims testosterone production

go to http://www.extremenutri.com/aminoguide.htm for a good explanation.
