| Making Progress | These are effects in relation to overeating/overfeeding. When you overfeed/eat for a certain period of time e.g. 3 or more weeks, it is common to gain a small amount of muscle as well as fat. In fact people that are obese aren't just overfat believe this or not but they actually have a lot more muscle than their leaner counterparts, its just so well hidden that you cant see it. The amount of fat and muscle you gain when you overfeed/eat, actually depends on how much percentage of bodyfat that you have to start with. O.k. here are some approximations i have worked out. For roughly evry 10lbs of weight gained by an individual who is overweight, in real terms 4lbs would come from lean tissue and 6lbs would come from fat. For every 10lbs of weight gained by a lean person again in real terms approx 7lbs would come from lean tissue and 3lbs would come from fat. Of course more lean tissue doesnt necessarily equate to more muscle tissue, fluid that is stored and carbs also contribute to gains in lean tissue. |
